  5. My favorite part of is how well the people love it. —— And because of this commitment to our users, even despite the boycott, usage has reached all time highs. Using a Twitter legacy metric, user active minutes, in August 2022, people spent 7.2 billion active minutes on the platform. Today, that number is more than 9 billion, a 25% increase. The same is true for video - even compared to last year, daily video views are up 45% to 8.2 billion. X is innovating and growing.

  11. The story adds that both the second and third place finishers also were 'female' with XY chromosomes. The best XX took fourth place.

  13. My eldest will turn 18 in September and vote for the first time. Her 18-19 year old friends are voting for Kamala because she is a woman (and not Trump). We talked about how all politicians have scandals, bad behaviors, and can be assumed to have compromised varying levels of beliefs plus ethics to maintain power and funding. Kamala, Biden, and Trump -- all have very bad unpresidential stories. I said that her friends and people like them are acting like idiots if they vote for someone because of identity rather than policy. It will be great when we have a woman president, with merit over identity. She filled out isidewith and learned about issues and views that she had never thought about. She now is more informed than most young voters. Living in a blue county, I was completely caught off guard that her views aligned stronger with Trump and less with Harris than me.

  15. The test result is not listed verbatim in the minutes. That piece comes from this article: https://www.3wiresports.com/articles/2024/8/3/0d4ucn50bmvbndhhqjohaneccoqueq ------------------------------------------------------------ PARIS – The athlete who has ignited a worldwide controversy in Olympic women’s boxing was disqualified from the 2023 International Boxing Assn. world championships in New Delhi after two tests, one in India amid that tournament and a prior test in Turkey in May 2022, “concluded the boxer’s DNA was that of a male consisting of XY chromosomes,” according to correspondence the IBA sent in June 2023 – more than a year ago – to the International Olympic Committee. The June 5, 2023, letter, spotlighting Algeria’s Imane Khelif, reads, “This situation epitomizes the importance of protecting safe sport, and the integrity of sport in which the Olympic Movement is jointly committed to.” 3 Wire Sports has seen the letter and the tests. ... IBA minutes from March 25, 2023, the day before that tournament closed, indicate the results of the 2022 worlds tests “were received only upon the conclusion of the event, hence the athletes were not disqualified back then.” Again, the next world championships would be in March 2023 in New Delhi. Why were both athletes allowed to take part? “Another test was not possible to conduct when the athletes were outside IBA control until they arrived to New Delhi,” the minutes read. In New Delhi, another test for each, “to reconfirm the findings of the initial test, which it did,” according to the June 2023 letter the IBA sent to the IOC. The New Delhi lab reports for both Khelif and Lin say the same thing: Result Summary: “Abnormal” Interpretation: “Chromosomal analysis reveals Male karyotype.” A karyotype means an individual’s complete set of chromosomes. Females have XX chromosomes, males XY. ------------------------------------------------------------ To continue down the Russian conspiracy thread, one might ask Is Alan Abrahamson lying about seeing the test results? Is Alan Abrahamson lying about the test results were? Was Alan Abrahamson shown fabricated test results? https://x.com/alanabrahamson
  16. This data is excellent as always. Regarding the question, "How often did a school/coach help their athletes overcome the psychological hurdle of being told they do not deserve a seed?", a more effective way to answer might be by showing the rate of US All-Americans (AA) among total unseeded NCAA qualifiers rather than the rate of US AA among total AA. Given an "assumed" higher rate of Iowa/ISU/OSU NCAA qualifiers being seeded compared to BYU, it stands to reason that BYU wrestlers might have had more opportunities to achieve unseeded All-American status. Do you have the NCAA qualifier (seeded, not seeded) data for that analysis?
  17. The decision to disqualify was made by the IBA secretary general and the the board ratified that move. The acting Algerian ambassador was present at the DQ meeting during the 2023 event. Minutes are available to read. Both athletes failed the same test in 2022, and the results came back after the event conclusion. IBA Secretary General and CEO explained that 2023 testing was conducted upon the request of the Technical Delegate and Medical Jury of the Championships. The results became available in seven days and the IBA Secretary General and CEO, acting on behalf of IBA, notified the athletes immediately about their disqualification, giving them twenty-one days to appeal the decision to CAS. Mr. Yerolimpos confirmed that IBA has the results from two independent laboratories in two different countries at its disposal, both of which indicate that the athletes do not meet one of the eligibility criteria to continue competing at the Championships Mr Adel Bouda, Acting Ambassador of Algeria in New Delhi, was invited to present the position of the Algerian side and requested a second opinion on the issue. The proposal to ratify the decision taken by the IBA Secretary General and CEO on behalf of IBA to disqualify Imane Khelif and Lin Yu-ting from the IBA Women’s World Boxing Championships was approved by the majority vote with 1 abstention by Mr. Abdeljaouad Belhaj and 1 vote against by Mr. Jose Laureano. The New Delhi lab reports for both Khelif and Lin say the same thing: Result Summary: “Abnormal” Interpretation: “Chromosomal analysis reveals Male karyotype.” A karyotype means an individual’s complete set of chromosomes. Fem What's really shitty is that this XY requirement was only formally added to the IBA technical rules after the 2023 incident. The IOC is critical of the IBA governance. The IOC definition of a woman matches the passport and they are unwilling to consider the IBA definition that XY challenges the definition of a woman. Logical IBA leadership might have had unethical reasoning and poor timing to DQ an athlete for their test results. The IOC is pissed because they care about the boxer. Their stance is that this boxer was born a woman, raised a woman, passport say woman, has boxed as a woman, etc. They do not believe the IBA has the right motives and the credentials to newly define what a woman is. That the athletes did not appeal to completion with the Swiss Court of Arbitration for Sport, who (CAS) is criticized for being too influenced by the IOC, because the (JROSS says obvious assumption) athletes know they would not win. Illogical That IBA leadership (multiple people) lied that athletes had male karyotype (XY) test results (easily disprovable). IBA corruption wouldn't be with the test results... that is too big of a whopper and too easy to disprove... it would be with the governance around it. Some of y'all are missing the nuance.
  18. The article does not draw conclusions or force an opinion on the reader. It is fairly comprehensive in what is discussed. Sarah Jacoby did a nice job. That is all.
