  1. With Penn State’s resources, what they have returning, and how aggressive they’ve been in the portal, they’re the favorite for the foreseeable future. It’s fun to think about someone knocking them off but there are too many weaknesses in Ohio State’s lineup. Round of 12 wrestlers at 5/10 weights is not likely to get it done. Also, I won’t believe Starocci, Bartlett, and Kerkvliet are done until it’s logistically impossible for them to return. Whether or not you think Cael “needs” them, he’s not in the business of leaving things to chance. RBY was also supposed to be done. Wonder what on earth could’ve ever convinced him to come back…
  2. It definitely could be that, hard to say, but Carr had like 2 minutes of riding time, it’s not like it was a close shave. Whatever the case it’s the same outcome, he had a mental lapse that potentially cost him a title. Angel was ready to give him that match.
  3. It was immediately clear, both from the way he approached the end of the match and his interactions with his coaches in the aftermath, that he didn’t know. I mean, if he did know, his approach to the final 30 seconds would’ve been even more puzzling. I suspect what happened is that he glanced at the clock after letting Carr up and saw himself leading 8-7. The scoreboard operator was a little slow and there was a few seconds delay before 8-8 was there. Obviously he should have known the score regardless, but that’s my theory anyway. No way he’s hearing his coaches at that point in the match, the place was loud as hell, and they were wrestling on the far side away from his corner. Perhaps they could’ve thrown a phony brick as a time out but his corner didn’t realize he was settling for what he thought was OT until it was too late.
  4. When both Haines and Teemer secured bonus en route to the finals, my entire section dropped to their knees and wept. They knew what it meant for the team.
  5. "Legendary Coach Cael Sanderson Announces Retirement Following Historic Victory in KC. 'That was fun,' Sanderson quipped, when asked for comment." One can dream.
  6. Yeah, I'm sure this bulletin board material will finally get them over the hump. They've been desperately missing that for all these years...
  7. Starocci wrestled 14 matches.
  8. I plugged my team into my proprietary scoring algorithm and came up with 156.5 team points.
  9. Jensen you coulda mailed in your ballot and just asked for the entire Nebraska lineup
