  1. Sitting in the Welsh-Ryan stands it really stood out how bald everyone in wrestling is. Wrestlers, coaches, officials, administrators. The domes were chrome as far as the eye could see.
  2. Good stuff from Quentin Wright, though I hope he was attempting to be ironic with his St Louis spelling.
  3. This first request goes out to Mean @Gene Mills Fan
  4. Adding team specific AA probability distributions here. If there is one you care about, let me know.
  5. sure. I think I will start a new thread to house a bunch of these
  6. Jaimie Dimon outlines the other cost to the economy of "The Dumbest Trade War in History (and we were being kind when we said that)" - WSJ Dimon noted that 25% to 30% of his clients are hesitating on business investments due to tariffs and other uncertainties, emphasizing that prolonged uncertainty hinders decision-making.
  7. 65 teams, 330 wrestlers, 80 All-Americans, 10 Champions, and 1 Most Outstanding Wrestler. I am getting tingly all over. Oh, yeah. And a team title. Let’s just get the team race out of the way right away. The Highlander - There Can Be Only One It is Penn State’s to lose…..again. Boring. Well not for me. But for you guys. What is not boring is the race for second. Wow, did that heat up. With Iowa’s seed average (9.6) much lower than their ranking average (6.7) going into the conference tournament, Oklahoma State, and Nebraska are firmly in the conversation for second. Feels kinda Thunderdome-y to me. Three Intermat posters enter (@VakAttack, @ionel, @jajensen09), one man leaves. But do not count Virginia Tech, and Minnesota out as serious podium contenders. Northern Iowa, Cornell, and Illinois may be long shots, but don’t you dare try telling our muse @ILLINIWrestlingBlog that. Rest in Peace, buddy. Just don’t do it on that great big mat in the sky or we will send Jombo up to call the stall in all his ham and vinegar fueled wrath. Here is hoping your beloved Illini do the deed. Author’s Note: For the long-time readers in the crowd you know that I come up with these point projections based on how the average wrestler at each seed performs. Well, here is the thing about PSU, they just don’t do average. For example, based on average expectations last year they were projected to score 145 points. And we know what happened. So, yeah, 155.7 this year is more. If you throw in the PSU bump relative to the average, they project out to something like 183. Yep. Lou Gehrig Award Who is this year’s Iron Horse? How appropriate that our warrior is a soldier. Army’s Brady Colbert leads all entrants with 36 wins on the season among his total of 43 matches. The man is a thrown back. And if you aren’t careful, he will throw you to your back. Our hero had 10 pinfalls among his 36 wins. With Wyatt Pinfalldrickson flying into the sunset at the end of the tournament, perhaps we have a new American Hero in the Black Knight freshman. Is he The One Who Was Promised? The Harlem Globetrotters Award The Globetrotters have won 27,000 games. You read that right. They will beat anyone, anywhere, anytime. And Campbell shares that ethos. If Campbell is going out this year, they are doing it in style. The Fighting Camels have the highest average matches contested among their entered wrestlers. The Outliers I am not sure what to make of this but there are more wrestlers with sub-0.500 records than with perfect records. Go figure.
  8. Starocci won the matrix calc vs Keckeisen. So why would Keckeisen be the #1 seed? H2H 12.5 - 12.5 QW 15 - 5 Conf 7.5 - 7.5 CR 15 - 0 CO 10 - 10 W% 10 - 10 RPI 0 - 10 Add it all up and Starocci gets 70 and Keckeisen gets 50.
  9. A tie is definitely in the cards, though we may need to involve @jajensen09 in a round robin. I will put something together in the morning.
  10. Only four teams got the full slate in
  11. Your schtick is just not that good.
  12. @jajensen09 The fall continues. PSU's expected AAs is a mere 8.6. PSU's expected champions is a pedestrian 2.7 (or 4.95 if they wrestle to their norm). Their chances of 10 AAs is only 18.8% Sad times in the happy valley.
  13. Crickets from Flo on this situation.
  14. Kerkvliet avoids Steveson until the last possible moment
  15. McEnelly v Keckeisen in the semis completes the round robin.
  16. Brennan the #29 - for now
  17. Mesenbrink v Barraclough in the semi should be tasty
  18. Jacori Teemer 18. Yikes.
  19. I can never understand when people post a story that refutes their claim, then say it supports their claim. Were you hoping I would just accept your statement and not read the story? The first sentence is "Inflation is still running hot, little surprise to consumers feeling the sting in everyday purchases." Come on, art.
  20. Doesn't it feel like a failing of whoever handles rules interpretation for Little Rock? There are still a bunch of people on this, and other message boards, who get confused about the free year. I constantly see people listing a wrestlers years and putting "free COVID year" for whatever the last year in the list is. They miss the subtlety that only the 2020-2021 season was the free COVID year. I could easily imagine a scenario where an admin at the school misinterpreted that too. As for the conference, I can imagine they trust the individual schools to get the rules right. If they had to audit every decision made by the schools then they would need a huge enforcement staff of their own. But why replicate that task, and absorb that duplicate cost? Instead, rely on educating the existing staffs at the schools. And since every other staff at every other school appears to have gotten this right, I do not think blame should be at the conference level. Just my guess.
