  1. My argument for two Hodges this year is this. They are both fifth tournament guys. Neither of their achievements exist without the fifth year. Therefore you cannot separate this year from past achievements, even though past achievements has been dropped as a secondary criteria. The tacit argument for Starocci is five titles. The contra-argument is five tries. And the fifth really isn't meaningful (my belief when it comes to ranking 100%ers). But if it isn't meaningful how can we assign meaning to Hendrickson's fifth year? I choose to assign meaning to both Hendrickson's fifth year and Starocci's five years making me OK with a tie.
  2. 2012 had a bigger gap between 4th and 5th than this year.
  3. Total points scored by all teams did tick up the last two years, but it did so from historically low levels, and remains well below what we saw in the 2007 - 2012
  4. I still need to do that analysis for this year. But last year it was not immediately apparent that the 3 point TD mattered, or if it did, it was too close to call. What looked like happened was that the number of majors was up slightly where it mattered (8 - 11 points). And the number of tech falls was up. But the number of pinfalls was down, offsetting the scoring. My theory was that pinfalls were turned into tech falls because the superior wrestler was getting to +15 too fast. It was so little data (1 year), and bonus points are so volatile, that it is hard to commit to that theory, though.
  5. Owings over Gable, for my money
  6. If they do, the NCAA will be killjoys and make them meet in the second round.
  7. The number of schools with AA's has increased every year since NIL became a real thing. This year saw the most teams with AAs (37) since 2014 (38). And that is in spite of one team taking 10 of them.
  8. It was also the 5th highest second place score ever, the 6th highest third place score ever, and the 7th highest fourth place score ever. It isn't just one team monopolizing the points. Oddly there were also more teams with AA's than we have seen since 2014. And the number of teams with AA's has increased every year since NIL really began to matter. Not sure what all of that means, but it isn't as one sided as one team broke the scoring record two years in a row.
  9. Here is a more complete way to look at it. The last column takes into account the opposing effects of fewer AA's per weight but also smaller fields during Nichols' (and a bit of Gable's) tenure.
  10. The problem is they used Signal for classified information. Pure incompetence. The most fireable of offenses, yet they keep their jobs, and in Hegseth's case, doubles down with lies. Hegseth is a moron. No one should be happy a moron is in charge of the military. At the risk of quoting that moron, "the assumption is, in the intelligence community, if you are using unclassified means there is the potential for, and likelihood that foreign governments are targeting those accounts and gathering intelligence from them." He considered that a fireable offense. Give him his wish. Marco Rubio said "the exposure of American sensitive information is incomptence, it is malpractice, it is inexcusable." He needs to resign.
  11. It has been said by the people who proved their incompetence that what they incompetently shared was not classified. Do you believe the people who have everything to lose through their own incompetence to not lie about what they did? I do not. How many criminals plead not guilty?
  12. I assume he meant the 24th letter, Twitter
  13. Either 2020 or 2021. Up until 2019 there were four criteria and three secondary criteria that could be used to separate finalists who had similar credentials (past credentials, sportsmanship/citizenship, heart). There were no criteria mentioned in 2020. In 2021 and after, only the four main criteria are mentioned. At the same time pins as a criteria was replaced with dominance/bonus-point percentage.
  14. Gorriaran (had to look up that spelling) Award goes to Cam Steed he had 3 pinfalls in 7:00 to Hendrickson's 3 pinfalls in 8:25 No one else had more than two.
  15. And in the single most predictable move, Trump is standing by Waltz and claiming it is imperfect technology, ignoring that it is not approved technology for that very reason. And CIA Director Radcliffe when asked if this was a huge mistake replied with a one word answer, "No". To work for Trump, to be Trump, you must be genetically modified to have any sense of shame over telling bald-faced lies removed.
  16. Reminds me of a CEO I once worked for who would say, "the short answer is none of your business, the long answer is none of your fckng business"
  17. And Hamiti would need to be a write in. I feel like only an OSU fan would do that, and they would not do that because they are all voting for Pinfalldrickson.
