  1. Not necessarily under rated, but I was looking at brackets from 2010 - 2022. The most busted bracket I could find was in 2016 at 174 pounds. The podium contained the 11 (1st Myles Martin), 12 (5th Nathan Jackson), and 13 (8th Alex Meyer) seed along with an unseeded wrestler (4th Lelund Weatherspoon). Does anyone know of a more busted bracket prior to 2010? Note: My finishes are mid-point of the range where they got knocked out if not an AA.
  2. As of right now, there are 27 teams that have a chance at multiple All-Americans based on the average rank across Intermat, Flo, and Wrestlestat. Some of those teams are near certainties while others have a remote chance. To come up with the list I averaged everyone's rank across the three services. Then assuming ranks are equivalent to seeds (they won't be), I applied the historic seed results to determine the likelihood a given seed will AA. I have posted that likelihood graph before, but here it is again for reference. There is no surprise that PSU, Iowa and Nebraska are the top three. But Nebraska has the least room for error among the top 10 teams. Only PSU and Nebraska are expected to get more than 50% of their ranked wrestlers on the podium (71.6% and 58.7%, respectively). Purdue falls just short. Note: People always struggle with the decimals in this. What does 0.44 of a wrestler look like, they ask? Since these are probabilities the best way to think of it is the decimal represents the probability of rounding up and one minus the decimal represents the probability of rounding down. Using PSU as an example, they have a 56% probability of 6 AA's and a 44% probability of 7 AA's (that oversimplifies a bit in that it assumes those are the only two possible outcomes - they are not). I will update this when the actual NCAA seeds come out.

  3. RBY can hit 100 on the head if he wins out (Clarion dual, three B1G, five NCAA), but there is a good chance he skips the last dual against Clarion.
  4. Does swimming count?
  5. And he is a rarity these days in that he only used 4 seasons to do it.
  6. Perhaps, but not in this case. One of @Husker_Du or @BobDole had previously mentioned that they were working on fixing the ad experience. Still more work to do. At this point they are just taking ads from the highest bidder rather than sort through the chafe.
  7. OK, so the soft core stuff is annoying enough at work, but now you have barely disguised hard core shit? You clearly want me to stop using your site at work, @Husker_Du, @BobDole
  8. Amen. And the weird thing last night is there was no challenge that precipitated the review in the Johnson/Mauller match. The refs made the call, then doubted themselves, then took forever to review the call that no one asked them to review, then confirmed the original call. In that case, it sure looked like the presence of video became a crutch, or a source of fear that they would be second guessed.
  9. One of these things is not like the others, One of these things just doesn't belong. Can you tell me which one is not like the others By the time I finish my song?
  10. That is the part that fascinates me too. Unless Carr wins big again at B12 or NCAA's I would still call a re-match a pick 'em.
  11. Yes, I did know that. But my point wasn't about the invention. It was about the decision to drag out the worn out method of trying to victory dance on O'Toole. But you already knew that.
  12. I was asked to coach my daughter's soccer team one year. I had never played and never coached. There was some dishonesty involved by the team organizers and we wound up having to play U18 even though we had players as young as 13 and only 3 17 year-olds. But enough about my excuses. We went 0-12-1. I missed the tie, so I was 0-12 as head coach and the assistant was 0-0-1. My daughter was the co-high scorer on the team with 1 goal. The 13 year old had the other goal.
  13. It looks like 4 of those are during his redshirt in 2022. And I do not know what they do with non-D1 wins, but he had 4 of those in 2019 and 2 in 2020. He also had a win over a teammate in 2019. So if you remove all of those he is at 89 wins.
  14. Yeah, it never made sense to me that someone who was actually affected by COVID (anyone whose fourth year of eligibility was 2020) in that they lost a chance to be crowned champ, or AA, or NQ did not get the benefit of the free year, but someone who was completely unaffected by the shutdown at the college level (2021 freshman) got an extra year. It is like they transferred Mark Hall's 4th year to Carter Starocci and they get 8 between them. Non-sensical.
  15. So many things bug me about the Keegan O'Toole version of this tired thread. What is the point of trying to score internet points off of someone's lose. First we bitch about ducking and think one of these guys is gonna duck. You heard it hear first. Here a duck, there a duck, everywhere a duck duck. Then when they wrestle it is time to score some points off the loser? This is a hackneyed bit. I remember when @Jimmy Cinnabon could be counted on for top class wrestling message board trolling. Now I am waiting for him to start a "Who Let The Dogs Out?, Boo Yeah, All That and a Bag of Chips, Da Bomb David Carr for Heisman and Hodge" thread. And back when this even was an original way to troll it was reserved for perceived frauds, or over-hyped wrestlers. Keegan O'Toole is absolutely not either of those. You are forcing it and it just is not working. Dumb. It's just dumb.
  16. Don't discount that I was trying to type and watch. All errors are my own.
  17. Well, I am glad we got that settled. Grant Willits was eligible to return this season, and would have been the highest returning placer at 141, but decided not to.
  18. Great stuff, @fishbane
  19. Looks like you mixed up the names and had me worried. Jacques won 2-0 Sorry about that.
  20. 165 I didn't catch either guys name. Not sure who is wrestling. Some guy named Carr against another guy named O'Toole apparently. Carr dances, O'Toole stalks. Nothing yet. O'Toole sweep single attempt, Carr double attempt neither connect. Carr in deep on the left leg, working around and hooks the ankle. O'Toole splits the right leg back, but Carr keeps working for the TD. 2-0. end of 1. Carr quick escape 3-0. O'Toole gets the TD but Carr out immediately. 4-2. Refs want to take a look. Call stands. 1:31 left. Carr stuffs O'Toole's shot. O'Toole gets the ankle, but Carr gets out and turns on O'Toole and gets the TD with 4 secs to go. 6-2 Carr after 2. O'Toole up to his feet but back down quickly. Carr over a minute of RT. Resetting. O'Toole very active on bottom. Carr hanging on to leg, gets the stall, and they reset. Carr finishes on top. 7-2. Very impressive.
  21. 157 Kraisser ISU Jacques Mizz Jacques with the ankle pick and Kraisser over the back. Scrambling. minute left. Kraisser worrking hard and gets the TD looking for back points. Doesn't get them 2-0 end 1. Kraisser on top. Kraisser looking to reverse. Stalemate. Kraisser mat return. RT over a minute. Kraisser with the ride out. 2-0. Jacques riding to start 3rd. Gets RT under 1 min. Jacques on the leg gets the stall. Still riding after reset. And it ends that way back to back ride outs. 2-0.
  22. Match took too long. Past the 15 minute edit period, but Johnson in deep, Mauller wizzers, then turns the wizzer into a pinfall. Holy crap.
  23. 149 Johnson ISU Mauler Mizz Hand fighting and jockeying for ties so far. Paniro shoots at 1:30 but Mauller showing some good D. Nothing. Johnson in again on a leg, but gives it up alomst immediately. Period ends 2-0 with two committed-ish shots. Mauller on top to start 2nd. Johnson out after 36 seconds. Mauller takes a shot a second too late. Gets the TD just after the buzzer. 1-0 Johnson. Mauller out quick 1-1. Mauller tries a slide by, but Johnson too quick. 50 secs left. Johnson tries a duck, but Mauller too quick, 25 secs left. To OT. Johnson shoots immediately, but Mauller barely avoids TD. Blood time 1:45 left. Refs reviewing but there was no TD. Come on, if you haven't seen a TD by now, you aren't going to. I had time for a snack break. Wife made heart shaped magic cookie bars for Valentine's s Day. She loves me. And no TD. Told ya so. Big scramble, no TD. Johnson was soooo close again. 1;11 left more blood.
  24. 141 Swiderski ISU Hart Mizz Hart looking like he is borrowing Bo Nickal's noodle arms. And he uses them like Nickal to get a leg elevated and finishes for 2. Tring for back points but only two swipes. Has Swiderski stretched out and flat. Swiderski not doing a thing on bottom. Stalemate called as Hart reaches for the bow and arrow. Come on. I want that b&a. Stall on Swiderski. Hart gets a loose cradle and can't hold it. Ends 2-0 with 2:34 of RT. Start neutral in second. Swiderski pressuring gets an ankle pick but can't finish and they scramble. Stopped for blood. Both guys looking to wrestle from distance. Swiderski on the ankle leg elevated, can't get around behind, and period ends. 2-0. Swiderski lets Hart up 3-0 to start third. Hart in deep on a single elevates, Swiderski hopping, and Hart with the TD. 5-0. Rides out the third, gets a stall 7-0. Cuts him too late to get the major. 7-1 final.
