With the new season around the corner, and transfer activity done (?), I thought I would take a look at returning team points. To make the graphics more legible I only include teams with double digit returning points. Let's start with the obvious. PSU returns the most points. Now let's look at some details. There were 1,437.5 points scored by 62 teams at last year's tournament. Of those 1,066.5 return (74.2%). So, at 77% returning (133 of 172.5), PSU is pretty much on average. But where are those points coming from? Some are returning to the same team and some are transferring. Below is the breakdown. Splashing cash gets results (or at least returning points). Iowa led all teams in total points acquired through the transfer portal. And good for them. I say pay the men. Oklahoma State is the other obvious big player in the transfer/NIL world. Given how close to the season their coaching change occurred, they may have been crunched for time. I would not be surprised to see them lead this rank next year. But still has work to do in % of returning points purchased. SDSU was the clear beneficiary of Iowa's largesse (all 1.5 points of it).

I think the most hilarious part of this is the stupidity of taking Turkish Airlines tickets and upgrades in exchange for leaning on a fire inspector to get a temporary certificate of occupancy. Such small stakes to throw it all away over. The second most hilarious part is the text exchange between him and his girlfriend who wanted to go to Chile, and he asked her to check if Turkish Air flew from NY to Chile. The third most hilarious part is when he texted her that "first stop is always istanbul".

Yesterday the NCAA's lawyers filed revisions and clarifications intended to address the judge's concerns. The filing sought to clarify proposed restrictions on third party NIL payments, better define "booster", and what constitutes pay for play. It also offered neutral arbitration so that "the NCAA will no longer be the prosecutor, judge, and jury for these restrictions." Now it is back to the judge to decide what happens next. The House settlement is squarely aimed at eliminating payments like the recent Iowa pay to play NIL. If it is approved the guys who got theirs this year will have timed the market exceptionally well.

The US takes great pride in being the world's police. We even use dollar hegemony to impose our laws on the world. It would be intolerable to have a foreign leader assassinated on US soil.

Occam's Razor. A highly controversial world leader decides to address the UN. The US does not want to be embarrassed by having a world leader assassinated on US soil. The secret service has limited resources. Trump rallies can happen anywhere. I know you are willing to bend over backward, side ways and any other direction to make this a political decision, but it just is not.

No, it is logistical. And it is in America's interest to not have foreign officials visiting the UN get assassinated.
