@Husker_Du maybe next time I'm in Perkasie visiting my sister-in-law, we could meet somewhere on the Bucks County Ale Trail for a few.
You two should meet up at the Cub Room in New Hope

80" would be extremely long. I just looked at some pictures, and his arms do look on the longer side.
Always thought his deadlift strength came from his hamstrings and back. Which are stout. But I'm not a deadlift expert

I thought Ferrari had long arms? Most good deadlifters do, although I have difficulty using the term "deadlift" with someone who uses straps.
AJ "claims" he's 6 feet (but is somehow shorter than Gable Steveson) and has an 80 inch wingspan.

Amine, who was heavier than Truax at NCAAs, was dwarfed by him. He also was considerably larger than Nino. He was not small at 197. I think you are grossly overestimating most 197lbers actual sizes.
I stand by my original statement. Ferrari was not a big 197 pounder. Average size. Sure. I'll agree

He is upwards over 230 right now. You think he wants to shrink back down to 197 and risk lowering his deadlift?
I've seen the videos. He's put on a lot of weight. But he's not a big human being. He's shorter than Gable Steveson who's barely 6 feet. And Ferrari has short arms.

Certain PSU fans: Brooks close over Yazdani. Maybe a criteria win for scoring in a late flurry a la DT in Olympics. Brooks bring a level of strength, speed, conditioning and technique that Yazdani has only seen when he has tangled with Taylor. Yazdani just does not have the tank to go 6 minutes with Brooks. Also, Brooks was DTs training partner at the Olympics and became very familiar with Yazdani from mimicking his style during simulations. No one else on earth has a better understanding of how Yazdani wrestles than Brooks. It is possible that Yazdani goes too hard at the beginning of the match, gets a lead and then gasses. If that happens, expect AB to weather the storm and put up 8-10 points in the second on a exhausted, beaten Yaz. It would be great if he scored using Yaz own underhook series a few times!
not bad! My prediction. He gets to their underhook? Thats it

I'll be the first to suggest he go up to 92kg on non olympic years. yeah he'll be undersized but i think he can take out both Mach and Moore

Why does every conversation have to be about Spencer Lee?
It's definitely an antiquated Cinnarithm model

Seems like you are taking everything out of context. He basically says that peaking, overtraining, and burnout are mostly mental. Which is true. It’s pretty evident that Cael is getting his guys to peak at the right time with more mental training than physical training.
56 minutes ago, Pinnacle said:The interviewer gave Brands what the research shows, and then had to ask him several times to clarify his answer because he kept saying it is a state of mind.
My interpretation of Brands answer is that he thinks the mind breaks first and subsequent to that the athlete fails to reach their peak. The science is the other way around. Science says that if you over train you will not be in peak condition at the right time. It is why athletes "taper" going into competition.
My personal take is Tom Brands tried to overthink his explanation when his own coach put it so simply to Terry Brands, "You should only train really hard when you feel really good. And when you don't feel really good just do things to get you to feel really good so you can get ready to train really hard." -Dan Gable

I guess, but I feel like he has lived up to these. Everybody wants him to come out with an excuse, but he won’t make excuses. He’s clearly struggling with some sort of injury but he doesn’t use it as an excuse. Instead he gave Ramos the credit. I respect that.
I’m just tired of the double standard and the ridiculous criticism he is up against. For example, you didn’t hear one peep about Starocci MFF out of the tournament (rightfully so). He finished his match in the championship bracket, so why couldn’t he finish in the consis? We all know the answer… it wasn’t worth risking further injury at that point. Same exact thing for Lee at NCAAs… wasn’t worth risking further injury with the open coming up. Unfortunately, it still wasn’t enough time to heal, and now people still think he is just mentally weak?? That’s crazy
Not disagreeing with you. Only negative comment I've ever made about Spencer Lee was @LJBand I questioning his gas tank a few months ago and we were called haters. It goes both ways. Bottom line is the spotlight has been on him for years. Negative attacks come with the territory

Why did Gable and Smith stop wrestling when they were both in the peak of their career then? Just playing devils advocate here, but Spencer has already wrestled through worse injuries than those listed. I mean the guy won NCAAs with two torn ACLs! I remember watching him wrestle the state tournament in high school and we could tell something was wrong but he told no one beforehand and decided to wrestle anyway. As we learned later, he had torn his acl just a few weeks before and I remember being impressed with how tough he must be for a high school kid to make that decision. Most people would have simply retired with the slew of injuries he had (like Smith and Gable did). What does the guy have to do to be tough enough for you?! I’d love to see all the internet tough guys try to compete at that level with those kind of injuries lol
I think it's more of the "excuses are for wusses" "wrestling is living or dying" & the Iowa tough guy persona that opens Spencer up to these types of attacks.
