  1. Holy schnikes.
  2. May have something to do with Lorenzo Norman or maybe Tyler Brennan, he of the 5 postseasons.
  3. I'm very worried we're not going to get the 1,2,3 situation we should be getting and someone will bump either Hamiti or Levi to the 4 (probably Hamiti).
  4. Eh. The portal kids have been brought over to shore up weaker weights, not over the top of elite level recruits; it was more a result of their old school recruiting style not bringing in the elite recruits and not being able to turn EVERY top 30 guy into an AA wrestler. I do not believe the Bassetts are in desperate need of money, but also Penn State has "recruited over" elite level recruits anyway, and nobody seems to be holding that against them. It's going to be up to the Brands to actually succeed with the elite level recruits they have now.
  5. I could understand why someone would feel that way. I think the commitment of Bo Bassett, arguably the biggest star in American wrestling with the young ones, is a potential game changer. But I could also be wrong.
  6. Certainly possible. I'm not the Iowa fan who's like 'it's all over now for PSU." By the same token, as you say, high end guys going to Okie State are also not going to PSU. Not something that will be felt by them in the next 3-4 years, but it may also bring PSU slightly back closer to the pack. I hope you're wrong and I'm right that Iowa is on track to be more competitive with (and even beat) Penn State, but I can't get mad anybody doubting that anybody will beat that monstrosity in State College.
  7. The issue is "fixed" at least for now. They're getting multiple top end P4P kids, most recently they got a relatively high profile guy you may have heard of. Deluca, Ferrari the Younger, Gabe Arnold, Harvey Ludington, Bo Bassett (and hopefully Melvin Miller and Keegan Bassett). Now as to whether they'll be able to compete with PSU with that kind of talent? Up the air. PSU is the standard right now, Iowa is trying to raise their game to match.
  8. Not yet. Waiting on payment by the time of the bracket release (other than people I've spoken to privately who are trying to make technology work, I'll give them an extra day or two).
  9. This is just not true, the Brands brothers get way more hate from outside of the program 9though there has been growing consternation within the fan base for the last couple of years.)
  10. Their team beats the other teams...except one. As to the purchased line, every top team has transfers.
  11. I think we might see some bullcrap at this weight.
  12. Yes, everyone knows if *checks notes* Carter Starocci and Spencer freaking Lee can do it, so can can everybody.
  13. Considering there are literal Nazi and/or KKK rallies that happen here without any arrests (and I'm not talking about the political ones that get compared to Nazis or KKK rallies, I'm talking about actual rallies and parades with the swastika and/or Klan hoods), you're going to have to work pretty hard to convince me this guy is being treated in accordance with our countries alleged beliefs.
  14. And Dake. I think he MAY be trying to argue about "homegrown" talent from the college roster, but either way it doesn't matter to me; obviously NLWC is the best club in the USA, no matter how much I wish it wasn't so.
  15. In case anyone is wondering what he's specifically referencing. The trade war is the opening lines, the highlighting was an accident (though also not good).
  16. I just don't understand why it's either "they're perfect as coaches, no notes" or "they suck and the entire sport has passed them by." They're good coaches, but have definitive flaws, one of them they're working on fixing (trying to bring in more of the top end high school talent as opposed to just one or two big fish and "coaching up" somewhat lower ranked guys) and are bridging the gap in that strategy with transfers) and the other is one that I desperately want them to fix (more diversity of thought/experience on the coaching staff). They're still awesome coaches, and they get very good results.
  17. Then why do they consistently beat everybody else?
  18. No, it isn't, but that's not the same thing as can't coach. They are literally the last team/staff to beat Penn State, but spoiler alert, it's not that easy to do, and ain't nobody else close either. In fact, they have beaten Penn State more than anybody else in the country during Cael's run. No thanks. Also, he's convinced I hate him. Name one team other than Penn State that is consistently better than them.
  19. Yes. And that's fine for them. But my response was to the idea that they suck and can't coach.
  20. Remind me which is the school to most recently win a title other than Penn State? Iowa coaching staff does have problems, and I would like to see some new assistants, but the biggest problem any coach at Iowa isn going to have is that they're the only program in the country that is held to the standard of "be better than Penn State." There is no program that is consistently above them. To make it more difficult, their also held to the standard of their own history. So they have to be better than two legends, Sanderson and Gable. One is impossible since he's retired, and the other is on as historic a run as Gable went on. Nobody else is held to this standard. Nobody. That said, I would move on from Telford and shift M* into a recruiting coordinator position, and bring in new coaches in those roles, preferably outside of the Iowa family to get some new blood. Terry, specifically, is one of the very best coaches in the country; people swear by him. The Brands brothers are one of the draws of the program whether you want to admit it or not. Ask Spencer Lee why he came to Iowa.
  21. It literally just stopped working today for several hours.
