It's not hard. They're graduating 157 - Ethan Miller and 184 - Jaden Bullock. Everyone is back.

They're gonna have to sort out 4 weights, 133 through 157, with 4 guys - Dillon Campbell, Aaron Seidel, Bo Bassett, Collin Gaj, Caleb Henson. Someone will need to bump to 157 to get the most out of the lineup.

If Melvin Miller does a Jax Forrest, who knows what weight he's going. They've got Burton at 165 and Desiante at 174. If he does reclassify, they should figure it out over the summer so he doesn't push one of them out of the lineup so someone can bump, unless they get someone from the portal at 184.

2028, the graduate Henson and Ventresca. They've got the middleweight guys to cover for Henson, but not sure if they have a recruit coming in at 125 who can score points. I'm not deep on high school

They have Killian Collucio from NJ coming in to replace Ventresca. He comes in right when Ventresca graduates and should be a career 125.

125 - Eddie (medical year)

133 - Seidel if can make weight. If not, Campbell is the starter and Seidel will RS

141 - Bo

149 - Henson: the lineup starts with Caleb choosing his preferred weight (149 or 157). He plans of 65kg for Olympic qualifying, so 149 makes the most sense.

157 - Gaj or Nininger. Gaj could redshirt. Small possibility Caleb chooses

165 - Church / Burton / Nininger: Speculation Nininger has the frame to jump to weights if Gaj is too good to RS at 157

174 - Burton / Desiante: Burton will likely get his choice at either 165 or 174.

184 - Bullock (medical year) / Desiante / Transfer: One month ago, I would have said transfer. Both guys have made strides since ACC season started. Jaxon Smith has been speculated as a possible transfer.

197 - Sasso

HWT - Mullen

Redshirt

 - Freshmen: Rocha and Rozas

 - Unlikely but possible: Seidel and Gaj

Highly unlikely Melvin pulls a Jax. Pencil him at 157/65 in '27/28 season

I don’t know for sure but I think Seidel would beat Bo for the 141 spot.

I thought Henson was going 157.

Caleb was mic'ed up for Stanford dual meet last month. At 8:15, Caleb talks to Eddie about getting Aaron back down next season.

Robie wouldn't predict his weight class on the recent Techsideline interview.

Most Hokies expect Henson back at 149 next season, but things can change.

Watching that room daily next season with those three would be so much fun.

Same.

If Seidel can't make 33 who RS's? Bassett or Seidel...

Seidel. Robie isn't paying for a Bo RS.

Robie avoided the next season lineup question a couple weeks ago. If Seidel can't make it back down, I could see the staff asking Caleb if he would go 157. That would make his transition to freestyle more difficult. I also think he's better 149 than a possible 157.

If Caleb goes 157, then Dillon Campbell takes 133 and resolves the lower weight logjam. Gaj would be forced to RS, and Nininger would need to bump up two weights to compete for a starting spot.

Redshirting Henson makes me think they are going to go all in this year, so they can earn a team trophy.

125 Ventresca

133 Seidel

141 Bassett

149 Henson

157 Gaj

165 Burton

174 Desiante

184 Bullock if returning, or a transfer

197 Sasso

285 Mullen

They risk losing guys in the transfer portal, but it seems like this is the way to go for an all in year.

Asking Henson to bump up to a non-optimal weight after asking him to redshirt during a year where he could sleepwalk into the finals would be something

Not sure where people are hearing Bo cutting to 141 from. I havent seen that anywhere credible. Doesnt seem likely.

125- Ventresca

133- Seidel

141- Campbell, Crook, etc battle

149- Bassett

157- Henson

165- Church

174- Burton

184-? Likely transfer if Bullock doesnt get another year, maybe Desiante

197- Sasso

285- Mullen

Collin Gaj will be taking his redshirt next year and will take Henson starting spot at 157 the following year.

IF they could really contend for the title maybe you ask Caleb to do this. To be in running for 2-4 maybe not. Punt to a certain degree next year (but probably still a top 10 ish team tourney wise) and bring it big time with the young guys in 27-28 season.

not an insider just throwing it out there

Nobody "knows" but there are a handful of reasons to think 141 makes sense next year.

1. He wrestled 145 at PIAA's.

2. It's common knowledge that he's never really cut weight and that 145 is basically his walk-around weight.

3. He has Olympic aspirations for 2028 at 65kg which is more in line with 141 than 149.

4. It was reported earlier this year that Henson has no plans of wrestling 157 next season and that he'd be coming back at 149 and Bassett would seemingly be going down to 141 for at least one season.

Obviously, some things can change and if Seidel can't make 133 next year, the trip bump might be what's best for the team.

Brucey B and OwenRector look correct to me. Seidel is pretty big for 33.  There will be no punt next year, it will be an all-in year to get Bo and Caleb in the lineup at the same time and make a trophy run.  Many on here are correct, Gaj can easily go up to 57, Nininger too.  Don't expect Melvin to "Jax."  It'll be tough if Gaj has a big tournament to shirt him next year but its likely to get Nininger in the lineup.  The initial talk in Blacksburg was Bo to 41 (not hard) and Caleb to stay at 49.  After the Caleb wrestled freestyle this year some talk changed a bit.  Caleb might go 57, if so, expect Bo to probably go 49 but he still could go 41 and have Gaj or Nininger go 49.  If Bo does go 49, expect Seidel to be the one to go up to 41 and Campbell back in at 33.  A bit exhausting but several good guys around the 33-57 weight.  After Caleb graduates things slightly thin out but great problem to have. Burton will take over for Church at 65 imo and Crook will only go occasionally.  No offense to those guys but guys with more talent around them.

I should say also, VTDante is on point too.  Bo has said in numerous interviews he will do whatever the team needs weight wise.  Robie has not speculated much because we are in the 26 season and will need to see all the results including nationals before figuring what is best for VT and what is best for the individual wrestler. I have also heard the rumor of Jax Smith for 84 but that could be simply a hope.  He is said to be buddies with Caleb so it seems like a good idea on paper after Ethan Miller scouted things as well.  Whatever happens, VT will be must watch in 26-27 and for a few years to come when Melvin joins.

VT should 100% be lobbying the boosters and trying to make a huge run and impact next year.  I'd raise as much money as I can and target a couple elite 74 and 84 and make a run at it all!

Are they better off in 2028 to bump Seidel and Bo up so Campbell can stay in the lineup, or keep them all disn and push Ninninger/Gaj out at 157?

Burton/Church/Miller will have to sort out who goes 174.

That leaves two holes in the lineup at 125 and 184 where they don't have a clear AA threat
