For the record, I would LOVE if Penn State could split the Hodge 3 ways this year.  Or at least if Levi could win it.

But the world is in love with Mendez, the only way he could not win is if he loses at NCAAs.  3x champ w/ his season's dominance trumps almost everything, even though it's not supposed to.

Not his fault but Barr hasn't wrestled anyone good and his weight class is super weak.  The quality of competition just isn't there. He has no shot at the hodge.

MM has a high bonus (100% vs 90%) and more falls.

So…he should be the #1 guy by a country mile, no?

The theory is that MM and Barr will split the votes from PSU fans.

MM is better in every possible way but somehow Mendez is the “front runner”.

Of course, Jason Nolf never won the Hodge, either.

Jesse lost ground on bonuses in the 10s with two decisions. It's looking like MM unless he fails to bonus a few times. As much as I'd love to see Jax get it, I don't think he's got enough matches even if he pinned his way thru NCAAs.

Mendez has wrestled a tougher schedule.  He also has better career accomplishments.  I know those aren't supposed to count but I'd be willing to bet many voters take that into account.

Yup, I’ve said it before but unless Mendez loses at NCAAs he’s winning the Hodge. I don’t care if Mesenbrink, Barr and Haines all pin their way through NCAAs.
