What a scumbag. He thinks he's doing them a favor by letting them wrestle. They're doing CBU the favor by representing their school on the mat. Very Christian of him.

Controversial opinion:  This is why I hate the "Save [insert school who is dropping wrestling] Wrestling campaigns to raise money.  These administrators are incompetent and don't care about the sport or the athletes.  Handing them money to save a program they don't care about doesn't help.

I would rather we raise money for That schools biggest rival to start or bolster their wrestling team than try and save one for a school whose administrators act like that.

I hope all of the CBU wrestlers find a team or school that can help them but I don't wish anything well upon the CBU institution.

these kids are getting scholarships, resources and admission into a college. CBU is the generous one here, not the athletes. wrestling was a net loss for the department and these kids had no leverage. they should have kept it quiet and made the AD come pull them off of the mat so he had to do it in front of people, not in a back room.

what are they going to do? kick him off the team? lol

Do they have an honor code?  Could be academic penalties.

Depending on if this was a private conversation and the AD didn't give consent to record, it could be a crime in California.

Craig Henning got screwed in the 2007 NCAA Finals.

there isn't a prosecutor in Commiefornia who would charge him, and in terms of civil liability - go for it. the kid has a net worth of an iphone, computer and a pair of jordans. you can't get blood out of a turnip.

that would be a stretch but if you found an overly pedantic admin (not out of the question) to champion it, he might get a sternly worded letter.

But he is going to have a degree and presumably be earning more in the figure with that Cal Baptist degree.  Judgements are good for what? 10 years?

Though I'm not sure it's the best career move for an AD to sue a student athlete over this.

I doubt any of these kids are on wrestling scholarships. These kids could've chosen other schools to wrestle at but they chose CBU. They should be getting a "thank you" from the AD for agreeing to represent CBU.

Some religious universities have crazy strict discipline policies. Brigham Young, Liberty University, Messiah University.  I don't know about Cal Baptist, but I'm not going to read through 100 pages.

Seems like a 20 year old college kid is the epitome of "judgement proof" and I can't imagine many lawyers would take the case on contingency. Sure, you could have your in house legal team try to collect a debt, but the reality is, that just isn't their area of the law and they wouldn't touch it either.

I can't speak to CA law specifically, but that "eavesdropping" law typically only applies to audio recordings/phone calls and not video (even though the video includes audio).

your photo is one of the great mysteries in the history of the internet. Nobody has ever identified the blonde in that photo. Sad.

agree to disagree about the power dynamics between CBU and the wrestlers. I get your point, I just don't agree.
