fair on the brown thing but it is what it is… in my experience they cater first to black folks.

It is beyond common for the next promotion to be mandated to be a minority or our next hire(s).  It always comes from HR.  If you don’t see that you don’t want to.  It’s been that way for 30 years

The purpose of HR in most companies is to protect the organization from liability. In no serious HR division would any of your claims be put out in legitimate correspondence. If you are passing on gossip or word-of-mouth it means nothing to prove your point. You might as well be passing along the racist fever dreams of disgruntled employees.

You have not provided evidence of your claim except for, 'if you don't see it my way, you don't want to.' WHICH. IS. NOT. EVIDENCE.

So please, try again and provide ANY evidence of your claim that would or should convince anyone that isn't YOU

These claims that people make about their employers having quotas are a bunch of B.S. as far as I'm concerned.

My corporation had specific goals for ESG.  And part of the specific ESG goals were number of women in positions at various levels of the corporate hierarchy.  The executives' bonuses - and even bonuses for all people throughout the corporation - were explicitly tied to these goals and details were presented in company meetings.  It is to the point where corporate loan interest rates can be affected by achievement of ESG grades,

My industry has explicit goals (quotas) for sourcing incoming components and raw materials from minority owned companies.  If our company does not meet these sourcing quota percentages then our customers (the same idiots who went hog wild for EVs and are now writing off billions of dollars of pissed away money) will take business away from us even if we meet all other requirements of cost, delivery, quality, etc.

In 1986 I was standing outside a building at a NASA facility with other members of our college project team.  We had just presented our senior project  - along with project teams from about 20 other Aerospace Engineering schools around the country - and were waiting for the transportation for our next activity.  A man walked up to the gaggle of graduated Aerospace Engineers and went straight to the brownest among us - and offered him a job on the spot.  The catch was that this particular individual - who was from my school - had not even graduated yet.  He was still a student.  He was there because we had an extra NASA paid slot and he had nothing better to do that week.  He was not part of the project team.  He did not present any designs at any forum.  He simply was brown and he was there.  He was a good guy and still had a shot at getting his BS in Aero but the NASA recruiter offered him a job credentials unseen.

DEI is explicit.  Tracked explicitly.  Open.  And has been happening under many different monikers for at least 60 years.

I am glad that I can now tell our corporation, our customers, and that NASA recruiter that he 110% does not exist, they are all B.S., and we don't have to do this any more because no serious HR department would allow it.  Phew.  What have we been thinking for all these years?  We just needed to just say no!

Yep. Most companies are very open about DEI numbers.  For instance Cocoa Cola has publicly stated that senior leadership positions will be 50% women by 2030.  There is currently a lawsuit filed against a Coke bottler by the EEOC for holding a women’s only recruiting event as it was discrimination against men.

That'd not a quota idiot. APPROXIMATELY 50% women is pretty expected either way when >50% of population is women.

We have strong DEI initiative in WI state govt but there are no quotas. You don't know what DEI is.

If you’re not at 50% it’s a quota with zero proof the best candidates are being hired. Damn you’re stupid.

So you finished college at 24 plus 25 years at the same company. Assuming you’ve only had your current job that means you’re pushing 50 years old.  You’re damn near as old as me.

Also zero proof that the best candidate wasn’t hired.
The fact that the privileged group no longer holds a place of privilege, in your mind is an attack. I know you won’t because you can’t, but think about THAT for a second.

You are having an emotional meltdown because systematically oppressed people are now getting the same treatment that white men have been getting for decades. You don’t like the other side of the coin and that’s understandable. Your reaction should be, ‘good, glad we are working towards equal opportunity’ but you can’t see it other than an attack.

And yes you would benefit from therapy.

Says the groomer supporter.  You’re worse than the kid that thinks they’re in the wrong body because you agree with them and then help them alter things.  You’re n the wrong side skippy.  Psychotherapy would help you.

I’m stating facts and you wokesters don’t like facts.  Quotas are 110% prevalent in corporate America.

You can try deny it all you want but every person in charge of hiring people is being graded on doing their part to hit that number.  If they dont hit those targets they will be held accountable.  I’ve seen it happen.

Is the fact that they have to create laws that require a certain percentage of hires to be minority hires(target recruitment) not enough to prove that the most qualified candidate isn't always the one hired?

Once again, please back up your b.s. claim, that this is even somewhat prevalent

I think you try to paint a picture that just doesn't exist in reality and I hear this argument all the time...

Many people can be equally qualified for a job. There isn't a metaphorical ladder for every job opening and one candidate is the most qualified. Typically candidates are interviewed and they narrow it down to 2-3 people that all could potentially work out in a role and go with the best fit.

The reality of it is people are chosen for a variety of reasons for jobs. Cultural fit, unique background experience, internal references, geographical location etc...

To use your linear thinking- I'm sure you aren't the most qualified person to pick up people's trash every week at the curb but I'm willing to bet you'd do a fine job at it. More over , I highly doubt someone would be standing outside thinking "Was he the most qualified individual to be picking up my trash?"

You guys need to start thinking with a little more nuance instead of these linear absolutes. It just shows a lack of critical thinking skills when you're unable to look at something from multiple angles.

I take it you don't work in HR and don't have any friends that do? Have you ever been involved in the hiring process? It's like trying to force a round peg into a square hole. Some of these jobs stay open for 6+ months because we have to hire a half way qualified minority but they either don't apply or don't have the experience needed.

If you really want to see what I am talking about, look at posts from recruiters on LinkedIn.

Your trash collector example is a bad example. Anyone with a strong stomach can do that job.

Affirmative action doesn't exist? Really? It's a law but somehow it gets bypassed because you don't want to think that legalized discrimination happens daily.
