That's difficult to answer in an objectively unbiased fashion as I support an established stalwart.

Little Rock has some hidden gems at times.  The service academies, including Coast Guard and MM are fun to watch on sheer effort.  Thompson has Swain.

SIUE is a good option. They are ranked #23 (tied with Stanford) tournament team, have a 9-2 dual meet record (wins over Northwestern & Little Rock; losses to OU and Central Michigan), and have four ranked guys (with 3 of the 4 returning next season):

  • #20 at 133 - Marcel Lopez
  • #3 at 149 - Caleb Tyus
  • #28 at 165 - Brock Woodcock
  • #31 at 285 - Bryson Buhk

And yes, I'm biased because I'm an alumni, but they're having a great season.

I have been impressed by what Columbia has been able to do this season. They have an excellent coaching staff - Pritzlaff, Seabass, Buxton and Billy Janzer.

George Mason is slowly building a quality program in Fairfax. They have three ranked guys (using Intermat here) who I could see making a decent run at NCAAs this year: 149 Kaden Cassidy ranked 17; 157 DJ McGee ranked 21; 184 Malachi DuVall ranked 24. Hopefully they continue to trend upwards in upcoming years.

I second this.

I like their attacking style.  Stunning but they actually try to score instead of win a one takedown match in the 3rd.

Both great shoutouts. I'm impressed by both programs ability to overcome pretty difficult recruiting standards/requirements.

What's on the horizon for Purdue?

purdue has been recruiting some gems, I like they have ramos has a coach now. I feel like next year they can have 2-3 AA'S and maybe a potential champ in blaze.

I really like what Oregon state has been doing.

Now you are speaking my language - outside of my fanhood in the Beavs I also tend to find myself keeping tabs on and pulling for Wyoming, Lock Haven, Harvard, and the SoCon schools.  It's an eclectic mix I know

They are building a very good roster in Corvallis. They are deep with some good freshman and more coming in 2026.

I feel like Oregon State has taken a step back this year. Do you think that's a fair assessment?

Pritzlaff is well suited for building a successful program. I am a fan. Always a tremendously classy, good guy.

Yes and no, Attao bailing so late in the game really hurt them and then that got exasperated when the next guy up had a season ending injury just cratering heavyweight.  Stiles transferring out obviously hurts the lineup as well but that's the state of college athletics.  They had an ok CKLV and a pretty rough showing at Arizona St last Friday but prior to that 6 - 1 with a loss to tOSU (no shame in that) and their best win being Wyoming (created a fun transitive property chain win over Iowa & Nebraska).  The Arizona St was a real anomaly; particularly in the top half of the lineup.  Until that kind of showing repeats I'm biasedly counting it as an outlier.  Even with the Attao/Stiles roster turmoil I think they'll finish with more points at NCAAs than they had the previous years with 2 AA threats (Rademacher and Renteria).

SIUE, very fun team to watch, fast pace and very under the radar in recruiting. They have some really good kids that were beasts in highschool and over looked somehow. There 133 lber lopez is a beast.

Full of un-bias blasphemy.

They will be good as long as Pendleton is there, but I would like to see them jump into the top 6 as a team. The West Coast needs a bedrock program.

Agree across the board; hoping this summer brings some confirmations of realignment and the conference solidifies as that will surely help in recruiting given the question marks now.

Can we also talk about ASU? I think the program is building something special and could be posed to start placing top 10 in ncaa's soon.

ASU Currently has

133 Larkin FR

141 Manville Rsfr

157 Larkin Rsfr

165 Ruiz Rs sophmore

Furthermore, ASU has been recruited some talented guys. I think there program is going at a upwards trajectory.

They have a pair of Illinois studs coming in the next two years.  Justin Wardlow at 165 next season and Caleb Noble (125) the year after.
