Got email from NCAA about ticket and hotel packages for D1 wrestling championships.

Was curious. Clicked through.

Ticket package:

- all sessions

- choose from a variety of curated NCAA championship gift boxes

- officially licensed commemorative merchandise

- conveniently shipped to your home

$3,000 to $3,300 / per person

Seats are lower level aligned with mats 1, 2, 6, and 8.

What the hell is in that gift box!!!  Damn!  Tried to find what the variety of options are … but find see anything.

$3,000 is pretty nuts.

How so?  Pretty par for the course for NCAA lower level tickets.

Does that include a hotel? Seems pricey but maybe with 3 nights in a hotel, 6 sessions, good seats and some swag, that’s par for the course??

Hotel adds another 1300 for Wednesday-Sunday. It's steep but probably not that bad if you look at all sessions and a hotel and try to purchase them individually

Really I agree. Not terrible.

Hotels ain’t cheap anymore. I’ve stayed lots of out of the way places and been shocked by the hotel bill. State College, PA loves to gouge you around events. Football, graduation wknd, Arts Fest. I’m sure the Big Tens will get a premium from the local hotels. I was down at the trials in 2024, wanna say I spent maybe $1500 ish for 2 nights in a middle of the road, business class Marriott property. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Clevelands a fairly major city, big event in town, hotels downtown near the event will likely not be cheap.

Being a large city seems like it would help matters for the aspect of hotel supply, and its ability to withstand short spikes of event-related demand.  The presence of AirBnB also helps to increase the universe of possibilities.  but 3K sounds a bit rich for me unless I could see what it includes.  if its just tickets and hotel that sounds steep and hard to reconcile.  Should I go to Japan with my family for the first time, or maybe Cleveland for the 7th time.

The $3K does NOT include hotel (as others have pointed out).

I’m damn impressed that several of you think the price sounds about right.

I can afford it but no - There are many better uses for that kind of money.

Exactly.

I bought a luxury box in Philly 2011, $500 total.

$3000.   unreal

$3000, lol what a joke. Based on the coverage the sport gets by the decision makers, I’d say $1000 max is more in line. The 3K would be better spent on an IRA for a child / grandchild while enjoying the big dance on the big screen in the comfort of my home.

Yeah without a hotel included, no way. I get it, primo seats and “you’re paying for the experience” 🤮 I’ll experience it just fine at home, comfy chair, massive TV, iPad during the early sessions to use ESPN+ to watch individual mats.
Seats for sporting events, concert tickets, similar things have gotten outrageous. As many said it becomes, I could afford it, but I’d rather not spend it on that, and would rather experience it from afar and spend the money on something less fleeting.

If that's all sessions lower level, it's actually not bad. If you go on stubhub right now, prices are higher than that for upper deck and that's without the mystery gift box.

I try to justify the cost to myself by asking how much it would cost to go to the NCAA football or basketball championship game. It'd be a lot more than this and we get 3 full days of entertainment vs. a single game.

Say you want to go with 3 friends and/or your kids.  4 people total.  $12K.

I’m thinking it would be a better experience to fly to some sweet and exotic island, stay at a very very nice resort, and have a watch party there with a few screens.  Eat like kings.   All for less $$$$ than the tickets would cost.

Invest the money (12k) and then go on that vacation in 25 years.

Seems reasonable to me. Unless you are poor. The riff raff like @TNwrestlingcan't afford it, so its worth it.

That price doesn't include what you'd need to pay to get a glimpse at Mr Bassett's wiener you're so obsessed with.

If Bo Bassett doesn't ever do anymore than AA two times I will delete my whole ass account.....WrestlingRash sucks

ALL people who cheat in high school sports are microdicks. Not just him. Mentioning it 1 time doesn't make me obsessed, but you sure like to focus on it. I know where your mind is.
