Zahid is still recovering from the first year of cardio in his life lol.

With the attrition of Taylor, loss of Steveson, regression of prime Parris, major injury and supposed looming USADA suspension for Brooks once healed, and what can only be assumed as Zahid's exit of Treigning Lab cardio program, 86 and 125 went from our deepest weights to our most shallow in the blink of an eye.

Keck will wrestle the Georgian in the final. We will see if he is ready to man the 86 kg for us.

Lee wins the gold shutting out RBY 4/0

Sounds like RBY got hurt and had to default, possibly a broken foot.

Fortunately, it is a weak weight internationally as well so I am optimistic that whoever we send out of PK, Dake, Zahid can still medal. Kadiev could run the weight through 2028 if Zahid does not figure it out though.

Carr takes the gold at 74kg. 4/1

Given Aoyagi beat Kota recently and now Mitchell and Carr have beaten Aoyagi and Sidakov just lost at the Yarigyan I think we are sitting quite well for worlds this year at 74kg.

Kadiev is the truth and last year was the year to get him. He's ready to the The Leap this year methinks, and that doesn't bode well considering 86 has been a medal lock since Rio (except the year DT didn't talk to Bo so we had to send out PD3). Idk if what our team looks like today, as in Feb 4 2026, can bring home a medal. Zahid needs to get it figured out because while I respect the crap out of Keck I don't know that he will ever make the team much less medal.

Sina Khalili won gold at 70kg. 19 year old Iranian prospect who has a very high ceiling

David Carr is incredible and will surely win many medals in the future at a very tough 74kg weight class

Shamsipour beat the reigning 79kg world champion at 18 years old, another great Iranian prospect, although he did make a mistake and quickly get pinned by Zahid for bronze.

excited to see Yazdani at 97kg tomorrow.

It's great to time to be a freestyle wrestling fan.

Believe this was Shamispours first stint at 86kg. He would be my pick to be Irans rep in 2028.

Rahmani is also very good. he's up at 92kg now but he will move back down to 86kg

Ghasempour, Rahmani, and Shamsipour are the top contenders for 86kg in Iran now

For Ghas's best interest I would rather see him settle in at 92 and try and beat yaz for 97. I just do not think he is functional at 86 scratch. Rahmani is an incredible talent as well if he can wrestle a complete 6 minutes.

Ghasempour tried to go to 97 and failed, that road is closed

He doesn't beat Azarpira (way too big/good) or Yazdani (0-5 against Yazdani) so his only path to 2028 is 86kg, though his last performances suggest he is indeed having severe issues making 86kg effectively. but he has 2 years to fix it, so that's still the easier path than 97kg. he still won bronze at 86kg at worlds last year, and he would never medal at 97kg. he would probably be happy with an Olympic bronze medal at this stage
