After watching the last several matches Pinto has been wrestling for Rutgers, I started to wonder, "who are the most spectacular examples of check collecting we have seen since the start of the NIL era?"  Not sure if we could fill out an entire roster with examples, but would like to hear some names that spring to mind.

Pinto is hurt and had surgery recently

If people were interested in collecting checks, wrestling is the wrong sport in which to earn them.  But it is probably the sport that teaches the traits that can help you to earn big checks in another way in your own life.

Teemer for sure, but who knows if pinto is doing that. I'm pretty sure some rutgers wrestlers recently got busted for throwing matches, with affiliations to the mob. Maybe pinto has been told to throw some matches or rutgers is just in a bad place rn

Full of un-bias blasphemy.

I'm certainly curious if Elam got a payday, or if he simply felt he couldn't reach his potential via "Tiger Style".

Coaching staffs that maximize potential is the difference between blood round and podium steps, and I'm not interested in excuses.  NIL dollars can certainly skew the talent pool.

I am really curious what these top guys are getting, does anyone really know?  Both the transfers as well as guys like Jax and Bo??

It was a bunch of athletes throughout NJ colleges and, to be fair, it seems like most involved in the scheme were just calling bets through an illicit network, not throwing matches. Who knows though. (I guess the NJAG will soon?) they found $2M in bets, so even in a perfect socialist society, the 2 wrestlers involved for 2 years would’ve maxed out around $150K. One was a NQ. I don’t think this will harm RU or wrestling too much.

The case was running subsequently in the press to a national game-throwing investigation mostly involving basketball students that got more attention. Probably why we haven’t heard much about it yet.

I would tend to believe the $200-$500K numbers for some of the Iowa transfers, and that PSU and tOSU are not far behind.  Not sure about OK State, they’re definitely getting something

I read somewhere a while back that he said he wanted to graduate with some money in the bank and that's why he was leaving. I'd assume that would be NIL cash.

He's full of shit.    Two former Rutgers wrestlers were arrested for bookmaking but there was never any suggestion that they or anyone on the Rutgers team ever threw a match.

To be fair I said I was "pretty sure" I never said I was "completely sure"

Watch out what you say about guys from 'Jersey'! Tip:  Don't go to Umberto's Clam House or Louis' in the Bronx for the veal.

Are there even books who take action on individual wrestling matches outside of the NCAA finals? Absurd claim that someone was throwing matches to make money LOL

He said it in an interview with Justin Bash on Bashmania or Bash and the Brain.

People used to throw around crazy NIL numbers when it first started.  I didn't believe all the hype.  Now I do.  Obviously much bigger for the two revenue sports, but I wouldn't be shocked by any of the rumored numbers anymore.  Quinn Ewers arrived to Texas from tOSU driving a Lambo.  He probably drove his other vehicle on the actual move.

All it takes is one big benefactor.  As for underperforming their contract, I'll pass because injuries aren't always reported.  Of course, are you only including the transfers?  We don't know who got a check to stay and isn't performing.

Dispassionate Penn State grad and fan.

Thanks, I really didn't know, you always hear rumors.  I just do not imagine there is that much booster money for a sport like wrestling.

I have to admit that I did not know he got surgery at the time of making this post.  For that -- I apologize!

Knox deal with Rutgers is 250k over 4 years and most of that is coming from the school NIL fund and not some big donor
