Yes he is committed to Pitt.

It's St. Edward. STED. Just a pet peeve of mine. Not looking to be cantankerous or petty. ✌️

Lol, we called it st. Ed’s too, sorry.
My first varsity match, at a tournament, was against a St. Edward guy, Jeff “Bubba” Strauss. I got decked in short order. He went on to win state championships and wrestle for Dan Gable.

We were on the Ohio All Star Wrestling Team 84/85. He was a stud. Goofy, but a stud.  He passed in 2022.

Per Flo: “#1 Jax Forrest wins an INSANE 20-13 Powerade final over #4 Karson Brown to become the 7th 4x Powerade champion in history!“

anyone see this match?

I did. Jax got out to a 6-1 lead and Karson stormed back. He got like 3 takedowns and closed the gap to 17-13, but that was as close as he got. Insane pace by Brown. He won the scrambles and had Jax on his back at one point as the refs stopped it. For what, i dont remember.

Honestly, it just looked like Karson was intimidated in the early goings of the match. Once he saw he could keep up with Jax he turned it up and came back. If this match happened again tomorrow it wouldn't be 20-13. Not saying Brown would win, but it would be A LOT closer.

Pitt's getting a hammer in Karson Brown.

Brown is awesome but he's not close to Jax's level. Jax's mind was elsewhere and it showed

Yup, I just found it. Flo should continue giving us nuggets like this if they want to grow their customer base.

Not factoring in potentially being sick as was mentioned I did not like how easily Brown got to Jax's legs. He seemed to turn it on when he got up 14-2 but then lost focus and Brown was getting in for free. I'm sure its hard to get up for high school matches at this point for him but I know baseline defense was a big thing he was working on so I would have liked to see that on display in a match like this. As for brown kids a hammer, really started making strides last year and seems to be continuing to make improvements. I will say Jax showed a lot of different ways to score again from neutral this tournament and was looking inside trip a lot which is exciting. I think he has been watching a lot of Satiev tape.

Brown seems like a wrestler who fits the old Iowa style of wrestling. Not sure what excited me more, this match or what happened to the price of silver today.

I believe we are all aware...

That was Jax's second close match today, by his standards, for a HS tourney.  If he was sick and he still put up twenty points he wrestled great.

So, is this kid actually going to wrestle at OSU for the second semester? That's unprecedented, as far as I'm aware. Is he good enough to do damage at NCAAs already?

Per his post match interview he is moving to stillwater next week and is going to base how his training goes on if he greyshirts/redshirts/wrestles. He is good enough to do damage yes.

Sounds crazy! Just read up on him on Wikipedia. 5th at Sr Worlds and lost a match to a T. Uulu. Then he won U23 worlds and beat O. Uulu. Wonder if those guys are brothers, both are from Kyrgyzstan?

I can imagine OSU feels pretty good with Spratley at 125, are they planning on plugging Forrest in at 133? Ronnie Ramirez has looked pretty good at 133 so far, in my opinion.

he beat both uulu's lost to uguev and Yassengeldi at seniors. Its just a common surname in Kyrgystan.

By his own standards Jax looked kind of flat this tourney. In my eyes he looked sick of the cut - maybe time to put on some weight, he certainly has the frame to fill.

Would not be surprised to see him jump multiple classes. I have a hard time seeing him as an effective 133 for a 3 day tourney - especially with the field this year.
