I've been on this for a month or so with some people bouncing the idea around of a tiebreaking criteria being applied AFTER Regulation.  After 7:00 one athlete gets the criteria nod and then they wrestle the 2:00 OT.  Whatever the appropriate folkstyle criteria that need to be assessed for this is arbitrary.  College needs to ditch the :30's.

Wrestle the 2 minutes with the ONUS on the athlete without criteria to score and the guy with it not to stall.

Eliminate the :30 and RT nonsense that no one outside wrestling junkies even understand.

We need to stop tweeking the rules every other week.   The majority of the rule changes in the last 10 years have made the sport worse.

Never liked the 30 sec ride outs either. I’ve always advocated to just go neutral, no clock, first one to score and/or not collapse, wins. If it takes 15secs great, if it takes 15mins, so be it.

It’s either that or go Sumo. Quick uniform change into those little diapers, first one to push the other off the mat, wins. Quick, simple. And it’ll give the ladies and probably some on this board something to enjoy…

At least this post makes no sense

I used to think wrestle until someone scores but guys will try to make the ref decide it.  Put a criteria on it and force some action.

They’ve changed the overtime rules (I’m exaggerating) 16,000 times in the last 20 years.   Stop messing with the rules.  They used to be good.  Almost every rule change in the last 10/15 years has made the sport worse.

Can't believe I have to point this out.

You say all the rule changes have made the sport worse, yet, leave the rules alone?  Got it.

In a lot of matches, I'd be ok with this.  But if that was the rule there would still be Heavyweights on the mat from the Round of 32 in Philly.

Yep.  At all levels there are wrestlers who are very comfortable doing nothing and living with the result.

Can we get some examples of bad rule changes? And for the record i dont like the idea proposed here.

FIFY. Rules are literally only changed in odd years.

Also, there were no changes to the overtime procedure for this season.

why do we care if other people understand? they aren't going to be fans anyway.

if they are smart, or care, they will understand.

it's not hard.

btw, the criteria is built in. most riding time.

What's hard?

Video review

3 point td

4 point nf

below the waist 5 count for stalling

Basically every stalling tweak

And before anyone brings it up.   For the love of god no pushouts or step outs

I can live with neutral danger.  That one is ok

It's not hard, it's dumb.

And boring

it was pretty exciting for the fans who wanted their wrestler to win.

and dumb? would be making up another new rule to increase action.

3pt TD? not really

4pt near fall? not really

i get more points for doing less...

Why?  We used to have that, folks were "winning" by tie criteria #5.  No one wants to go back there.

So what your telling me is that coaches back in the day of "referee's decision" knew the criteria cold.

As opposed to the Freestyle type criteria where the score is underlined and 2 minutes on the clock to do something about it?
