How did the Ferrari, Voinovich and Bassett brothers pan out?

1-We got the better and sane one

2- not ranked that high and they are still here

3- Melvin never committed and we already have replacements for Bo

Because of the idea that the brands are so bad at coaching and recruiting.    I was told not only is Iowa folding as a program but they don’t even have passport’s outside of Iowa to recruit in nj or pa.  Weird

Ben Askren is the next game changing head coach. He already has a successful kids club to funnel in talent, and has a plethora of coaching experience even if just at the younger levels.  He obviously knows how to motivate and teach wrestling.

Askren is amazing, but is his health up to it?

I don’t think the Brands are going anywhere. They’ll leave when they decide to leave. Two main reasons. They’ve been successful - they’ve won titles, they’re always in contention still. And it’s wrestling, this isn’t football or basketball that drive the AD ship and catch all the attention. If Ferentz can still be coaching given his so-so, above avg results over a long career and only having had to sacrifice his son, the Brands are safe.

And who else is there? Who would come in Day 1 in the next season or 3 and move the needle majorly like Cael did or DT has? Dake? Burroughs? A former PSU wrestler like a Nolf or Cenzo? Not sure those are options.

And the next 3 seasons title or bust? That’s a tough pull. This haul of kids doesn’t show up on campus for what? 2-3 yrs? So you’re expecting a lot from kids who haven’t wrestled a collegiate match yet. Maybe that’ll adjust as they age and start beating college guys while in HS like the current batch of wunderkinds and expectations Day 1 will rise.

PSU is a virtual lock for this season and next season. And as we get into next season the crystal ball clears and PSU, Okie St are probably the main contenders for season 3. Ohio St, Nebraska, Michigan, VT are lurking. Cornell’s in there to contend. Iowa has a lot more competition to contend with in the 3-4 seasons you’re giving the Brands and most of those teams have huge head starts.

Great post Nat. They’re probably not going anywhere anytime soon because they remain a top 5 team however failure to maximize talent plus there seems to be alot of injuries over the years is reason enough to start looking elsewhere. Perhaps replace one and keep one and add a JD or Askren.

The Brands Bros just landed 5 monster recruits in Kenny 1, Kenny2, Bachmann 1, Bachmann 2, and The Borg.  The next two seasons they will have as many blue chippers as anyone, including Penn State.

If they can't win a team title in the next 3 seasons with these primo studs will it be time for a change at the top?

The two younger bros are class of 2028. So it will very hard for them to contribute to a team title in the next three seasons. The two older bros and Borge are class of 2027. So you're asking that if TnT don't win an NCAA team title during Paul/Joe/Borge's freshman season (at the latest) is it time for a coaching change? Lmao. They better pack their bags because that ain't happening.
