The fact that you missed the first thing I said is interesting. Again, you make assumptions. First, I have spent a significant amount of time in Chicago; in fact, one of my daughters is being recruited by NW, so we have been there at least 6 times in the past 6 months. I was also born and raised in MN.  Moderates for me would be Gluesenkamp-Perez, Slotkin, and Peters. Some would say Fetterman, but I am not sure where he falls, to be honest; your examples of moderates are well known as classic left-of-center liberals. Although they are not Progressives like the "Squad," they are not moderates either.

So, Pelosi: here are a few of her positions that put her outside the "Moderate" realm. Her entire position on Climate Change and her advocacy for the Inflation Reduction Act's climate provisions, and she is pro-universal HC. Jefferies supported the defund police movement and was very vocal about his redistribution of wealth agenda. Shumer, take your pick, but allowing illegal immigration, broad debt cancellation, etc...

Can you cite your sources here?

Pelosi is staunchly against M4A. Only thing I can find about her supporting more healthcare reform is adding a public option to the ACA, but that's not really universal healthcare. That just offers another option to buy health care on the free market.

I'm not sure how climate stuff fits in here. I thought we were talking about "socialism" and economic policy. Can you expand on what specifically with her climate position you disagree with?

Jefferies explicitly disavowed "defund the police" as a slogan. Can you point to any concrete act he took to do something like this? (also again, not economic policy).

Redistribution of wealth agenda is pretty ludicrous. Dude takes more corporate money than anybody. I doubt his economic policy differs at all from GP, Slotkin, Peters, etc...

Shumer refused to even endorse Mamdani.

I think you need to do a better job at distinguishing between empty symbolic gestures and actual political action. A lot of the issues you mention are just checkbox issues to signal to the general democratic base. You can't be a dem politician if you don't support climate action, healthcare, middle class tax cuts, etc... That doesn't mean you actually believe in those things.

Judge politicians on how they vote and lobby for bills that are within the margins of passing and who funds their campaigns. That's how you know what they actually believe in.

For example, almost every dem candidate in 2020 claimed to be for some version of M4A. Why? Because it was incredibly popular and the source of Bernie's strength. The second Bernie was defeated, they dropped M4A and the party, with the exception of the small progressive wing, hasn't talked about it since. It's not any less popular. They just don't have to pretend to support it because there isn't a faction powerful enough to make them anymore. None of Harris, Buttigieg, Klobuchar, Booker, etc.. ever had any intention of actually trying to pass M4A.

Pelosi and Jeffries may say in their comments that they support general principles like equality or climate justice or high taxes or whatever. They wouldn't actually act on those principles if they had the chance. It's empty signaling to their base.

yes we know this.

you are ignoring the fact... that the crime has been ignored for a long time. NO DETERENT.

Crime is a fraction of where it was 30 years ago. It wasn't ignored. It was successfully addressed.

You, like most boomers, confuse being able to see videos of things on the internet all the time with "these things are happening all the time."

This country is far far safer than when you grew up.

Not sure when my taxes were cut.

and don't forget. Obamacare was the largest tax on the MC in the history of taxes

Obama cut your taxes. You didn't notice because you were too busy watching fox news.

Funding for better education and opportunities overall.

You can fund things until the cows come home. That has proven to not change the urban culture. Like I asked uncle bernard, what is the solution to fixing the urban culture? It would have to be a long term solution because right now the culture is just carried on as normal and they accept it as such. What is the solution so the cycle doesn't keep repeating?

All those people complaining about living conditions in dimocrat run cities and states, doubling down on electing dimocrats, doesn’t spell improvement for any but a few of the bureaucrats.  A communist, antisemitic, radical islamist in NYC?  Women and children hardest hit.

Only poor people who live in democrat run cities complain about the crime and bad conditions.   As far as I know all of the lefties on this board do not live in the inner cities.  They can certainly correct me if I’m wrong.  They seem live in Florida or are elitist east cost suburbans.

visiting northwestern in Evanston/Chicago or spending a day in the nice hotels for a day don’t count coming to Chicago.    Unless they spend some time where the vice lords or the gangster Disciples or Latin kings or the 2-6 rule etc….   They don’t know what it’s like to live in these cities.

True.  And it’s likely that the most adversely affected are the least political, and the least likely to vote.

You really do pick and choose. I clearly stated I did not think the three are far left, I said they are not moderate, they are die-hard liberals, not moderates. Reading the words, every word, would help. Although you tend to be very condescending, at least you try to engage in civil discourse; your backhanded comments are almost funny.

I will provide a few sources, no problem. You refute points, make comments about the other person not being as sharp as you, the whole time, never actually showing any legitimate sources for your position.

“We believe that quality, affordable health care is a right – not a privilege – for every American.” - https://pelosi.house.gov/issues/health-care

“We will be joining those who established Social Security, Medicare, and now, tonight, health care for all Americans.” - https://time.com/5832330/nancy-pelosi-obamacare/

“I think that we should have health care for all.” - https://www.bloomberg.com/news/videos/2019-11-01/pelosi-we-should-have-health-care-for-all-video

You may need to start reading what people actually say; all three of those Quotes are Universal HC. "All Americans" that is pretty universal.

As for Jefferies and his anti-police stance, I will agree that he has never stated and has said not to defund the police, but his reform language might as well. However, I see some merit in his position; he fails to understand that it would put police in danger and make them ineffective. He is for ending qualified immunity for officers in civil suits, restricting use-of-force policies, and creating federal registries for police misconduct. On the surface, sure, why not? I am, and have always been, for Police accountability, but we have to understand the long-term effects these three things together would have and how they impact public safety.

As for Shumar, you ask why his green positions matter in this debate. Simple, you stated he was a moderate. The climate change movement, particularly when tied to heavy regulation and centralized mandates, mirrors socialist principles by placing the Government in direct control of private industry and individual choices. This is a socialist position, not a moderate one.

One thing they all have in common, which for me makes them and non-moderates see eye to eye, is that, in most instances, they believe more Government is the best option.

That’s to keep your whining ass shut. You want off this ranch, you got it. I’ll drive your ass to the train station myself.

Yes the democrat voters keep making the same poor choices hoping things will improve. Isn't that the definition of insanity? I don't know if there is a cure for insanity.

Those people unhappy with Chicago with Chicago addresses HAVE NEVER ACTUALLY BEEN THERE.  UB wants that to be true so, as a leftie, what he wants to be true must be.  This was a staged hoax of a crime and not a real one at all, Cav.  It was probably filmed right next to the soundstage where they filmed the lunar landing.

Chicago rocks.  All the people who have moved out and my suburban Chicago family (most of whom used to live in Chicago) are all fake and false people who never really existed.  They must be antifa which does not exist either!

People who tolerate me on a daily basis . . . they are the real heroes.
