That's a strange take over ugarles opinion regarding Kilkeary...

How so? They are only considering their singular perspective, which is athletes MUST START over everything else

But that's just like, their opinion man. And not necessarily what Vinny thinks

Is that what his opinion was?

Yes: "someone HAS to be transferring out at 125. insane for Kilkeary especially to spend the year watching as the #3 with no real path to the mat on the horizon."

With Kilkeary ... If he's happy at Ohio State and enjoys his teammates, that could be worth more than uprooting his life and leaving his friends to be a middling D1 starter.

Absolutely true. That said, he could probably start at like Davidson and the chances of a SoCon bid are decent (though obvs no lock).

You quoted ugarles response to BruceyB.

Not

I think it can go one of two ways for Nic. This was his first time wrestling multiple matches in one day after getting down to weight and he will get more adjusted as the season goes on. Or his body really cannot tolerate doing this cut and the wheels are going to fall off as the season progresses.

my thought as well /  is it sustainable for an entire season

I thought he looked good. Wrestled 4 matches and didn't seem to run out of gas. I think he will be able to maintain 125 all season, while wrestling half the time, maybe less depending on how McCrone is doing.

Agreed.

McCrone went 1-2 at NCAAs. lost to Mcgowan R1 4-3. Beat Joey Cruz and then lost to Spencer Moore 4-1.

McCrone's Big Ten performance was weird considering how he started the season. He lost to Navarro R1 then to Rivera after that. He dropped to the 9th place bracket and then majored Navarro and beat Joey Cruz 8-1.

If Bouzakis can get the chances to prove himself although having lost to McCrone will limit that, I think he will show to be the better option

yeah that's why i said "absolutely true" while suggesting a potential alternate priority one might have

it's not like i haven't wondered the same thing about cornell backups, most of whom weren't nearly as highly regarded as kilkeary. and it's not any kind of moral judgment if he has other priorities!

It was never contemplated that Bouzakis would start all the matches, if he earns the spot, he is on a pitch count basis.

I wouldn't be surprised if they go to midlands or something to settle it.

IIRC, didn’t McGowan nearly have Robinson beat at NCAA’s?  Not sure I’d consider that a bad loss for McCrone, McGowan is probably a sleeper title contender this year.

I would.

It may not be settled until B1G Tournament...
