I very well could be overlooking the teammate vs teammate dynamic, Perentin also beat Birden in the next match which is a quality win. I will be interested to see James vs Birden on the backside.

Bassett beating Joy 5-0.  Bang heads as both go low.  Concussion protocol for Joy as he crumbles to the mat and turtles.  3 was given to Bassett as he got around behind easy at that point.  3 still on board.  Curious if it stays.

Yeah I thought it should've been wiped as well. It was given and when hey returned Bo got two swipes. 10-0 now. Bo looks plenty strong for 149

3 stays as Joy returns and is down.  Bassett showing great work. Looks great as he majors Joy.  11-1

Bassett doesn't need anyone fanboying for him, but he's looking top 5 right now, and in the weak 149lb class I'm not sure I'd pick anyone over him besides Van Ness.

The knock on him (including by me) has been that his offense gets shut down by more physically mature and defensively stingy guys. Maybe still true (Stanich, Blaze), but the caliber of wrestler it takes to shut down his offense keeps getting higher.

Joy was 29-1 in his RS year last year, and knocked off #3 ranked Stiles in the semis. Bo didn't seem to have much trouble with him (11-1).  He got ridden the third period, but honestly it wasn't even a very good ride.  (Joy got dinged for stalling on top.)

Even the kid he teched in the semis, Tyus, is tough.  Not an AA threat but he's a redshirt senior who's been to NCAAs twice, picked up a win both times, hasn't been teched or pinned once his whole college career, and has only given up bonus twice.  Bassett broke him halfway through the second period and picked up the tech.

Gotta credit him and his brother for constantly pushing themselves to get better.  It's working.

Interesting to watch Sidun's match with McCrone.  Controlled McCrone on his feet, but totally unable to get off bottom.  Pretty typical for high schoolers I guess, and typical for McCrone for that matter, but at least Sidun knows where he is.

If mcrrone gets that boot in it seems like its tummy time and hoping for a stalemate. I actually think that match despite being a lost was Siduns best showing. Would have liked to see him and Knox or Burnett and Knox.

I would feel pretty comfortable that he would be top 4 this year. Casey looked really freaking good last night so I am not sure if I would be confident picking Bo against him or SVN right now outside of that I think I would favor him. Paniro would be interesting because I think if he goes to balls to the wall trying to score on paniro before paniro is tired he could find himself in a hole but i'm pretty positive Paniro would need an oxygen mask for that matchup.

Fair.  I'm sure over the season, a couple guys will emerge as having massively improved and probably would be favored over him, and Casey might be one of them.  But I'll admit Bo is better right now than I realized.

Perentin is a dog. I do not want to hear ever again that James is a better recruit than Bassett or Jax btw.

Given that he’s two years younger than them, that still might be true.

Bo teched Tyus so its a give and take. I think the Joy match was more competitive than the score indicates. Two of the stall calls were rather insane the first takedown was early and he got knocked out on the second one. Bo was the better guy but I think the margins are a smidge closer than what the final score was. That being said I went away from the tournament more impressed with Bo than I already was.
