Like in 2014 when China did the same thing for them. I can’t recall if there was radical free market experiment then too.  Bahahahahahahahah

Why do you think this is a gotcha?

Why do you think I think that’s a gotcha ? Because I don’t.

Its easy to be a non believer when you’re alive but it won’t be when you die.

This isn’t the first time Argentina has had to be bailed out financially and most likely it won’t be the last.

From what I read a lot of US soybean farmers were not happy about this.

Yes, well, they are more upset with the Tariffs, China is the largest consumer of Soybeans (and school lunch cheeseburgers). China has shifted to buying from Argentina and, I believe, Brazil. So helping out Argentina is not viewed as good by the farmers. They are fully justified in being upset, based on their position and industry.

Trump Says $16 Billion Hudson River Tunnel Project Is ‘Terminated’

“Gateway is the most important infrastructure project in America — period,” Mr. Schumer said in a statement.

How can a hole between the Jerseys and New York be the greatest project in "America" ... not just US but America?!  Maybe give the $16B to farmers ... people gotta eat correct?

It appears Trump has $40 Billion burning a hole in his pocket.

I'd modestly suggest he give it to the US farmers rather than Argentina.

Handouts from the American government should be reserved for the Americans who need them.

Great.  I infer from this that you are a big fan that we shut down USAID which gave money to anyone but Americans.  And stopping funding for Haitian homosexual and transitionersexual dance instruction.  See, there is agreement on many issues.

Oh, and nothing for illegal aliens.  They aren't Americans.  Another thing we can all agree on.  This is getting easier and easier.

Isn't the aid in exchange for an equal amount of pesos?   Peso worth should go up from the influx of dollars and then US gov has more than they originally gave.   I think that is how this will work from what I have read.

Are you simple? Or just stupid?

We should NOT be propping up Argentina to the tune of either $20 or $40 billion, not even 2 dollars.

Period, end of story. (Save your bullshit transgender argument for people even dumber than you.)

Peso value is notoriously volatile. The US Dollar is considered stable.

That's why Argentina is benefiting, while the US is taking on considerable risk.

Should the peso go up in value? Meh. Given the chaotic nature of the current administration, that's not even close to guaranteed. To put it kindly, the US is a mess in terms of its economic credibility right now. Trump's Project 2025 people have done nothing but wreak havoc (and, for those of you keeping score, no it's not a knock on Trump himself - it's on the financial idiots who are part of his administration.)

If anyone is interested but doesn't understand, Google "currency speculation".
