The United Athletic Conference is what is currently known as the W.A.C.   And it makes sense that they are changing their name as none of the teams in the U.A.C. are in the West so calling yourself the WESTERN Athletic Conference makes no sense.

The Little Rock wrestling team will remain a part of the PAC 12 as the article mentions.

Because calling a group of 18 teams the Big 10 and a different group of 16 the Big 12 makes sense.  🤔

The business side of sports has really messed things up. Pacific in Little Rock AR 🙂

Yes, and the Big Ten has 14 teams and the Big 12 has 14 teams.  Stanford is now on the Atlantic coast (probably near Hilton Head, take a look a see if they are near you now🙃

At least the Pacific Athletic Conference changed their name along the way.   It was the PAC 8, then the PAC 10 and finally PAC 12 before the great demise.  They decided not to change to the PAC 2 (for football).

When the Big 10 went to 11, then 12 - they couldn't go to Big 12 because it was already in existence, and the Big 12, when they went to 10 couldn't go to Big 10.
