San Diego State dropped in 1981 but added it back in 1992 and dropped again in 1994. Somebody who shall not be named was I think their last and possibly only All American.

I am reading too much into this or should we be worried about the future of MAC wrestling? Northern Illinois is a core member of the MAC in all of its sports as far as I can tell so that seems a little troubling to me that they are leaving their home conference (as opposed to like an SIU Edwardsville who is affiliate only in wrestling (just using them as example)

On the bright side, I would have to think that another addition to the PAC 12 is coming soon because I can't imagine a school just leaving an their home AQ conference to go to a non-AQ conference without some assurances that there are plans in place to keep the AQ.

Northern Illinios is leaving the MAC in all sports - headed to the Mountain West for football and the rest of their sports are finding a home in the Summit League so I don't think this is in anyway a concern about the future of the MAC wrestling

Baseball and most of the other sports besides football are joining the Horizon league.  I'm not aware of any sports that are joining the Summit.

Craig Henning got screwed in the 2007 NCAA Finals.

That's on me - I always get those two leagues mixed up; the point stays the same about the reflection on MAC wrestling.  It's football decision to get football in the MW and finding a home for the rest of their sports

Utah Valley, Cal Baptist, and Wyoming make more sense if you're worried about travel. I say if you're the Big 12, trade them those for UALR. Just for my sanity.

Utah Valley & Cal Baptist do make more sense but Wyoming makes no sense as Wyoming was NOT one of the five Mountain West Conference teams that were invited to be a part of the new PAC (insert # here).  Having their wrestling program compete in the PAC while all of their other sports continue to compete in the MWC makes ZERO sense.

If N Illinois is a good fit for the PAC maybe Hawaii is a good fit for the MAC?  🙅‍♀️

Distance between Northern Illinois and LR-Arkansas: 532 Miles, Flight Time: 1H42M
Distance Between Hawaii and Ball State: 4,383 Miles, Flight Time: 10H minimum

😬🤣

Agreed, especially w/ the bad blood between the MW and PacX in the conference offices; Air Force would be ruled out for the same reason.  Arizona St, Okie St, Iowa St, and West Virginia are Big 12 bona fides.  Mizzou and Oklahoma are affiliates but more like step brothers or half brothers; whichever you feel is more appropriate.  No chance UNI leaves. Utah Valley and Cal Baptist make the most sense; if I had to speculate on someone else than I would say the Dakotas and Northern Colorado is the Wild Card that I have no idea.

Washington State had wrestling - they dropped it after the 1986 season.

I usually don't mind being wrong, but this is just that much more of a bummer.

Glad this has been approved... I was waiting until it was officially announced, and honestly even now I am skeptical until after the conference meet has wrapped up. NCAA realignment by way of *TV deals and NIL is wreaking so much havoc that everything is up in the air. We are not out of the woods yet regarding if the Pac 8-10-12 goes the way of the dodo bird.

B1G media deal expires in 2030, so we can expect conference realignment rumors to ramp up in a couple of years. Speculation is that they'll pick up at least 2 more, probably from the Big12 or ACC if ND is a non-starter, so it could ripple downstream to the Pac.

And the distance from Northern Illinois University to southern illinois (commonly known as I-80) is 56 miles, drive time 51 minutes, time machine 60 years

Right after Vision Quest was released! IIRC Louden was in Eastern WA somewhere, like Spokane.
