Which is so interesting in the grand scheme of things. They underperformed heavy at u17s and u20s.

I'm sure they are okay with the way the 3 tournaments played out.

The only thing they are okay with is the way seniors went. Their tournament at U17s was a good showing but may be the one of the biggest chokes I've ever seen

I know the Greek went 74 KG and gave Dake all he could handle.  That said, I am curious if he will go 86 KG or 74 KG in 2028.

He could still be formidable at 86 in time

I wonder if Kougioumtsidis goes up to 86 now that he's got his title?

He looks so physical at 79 and struggled at 74 in the olympic year. If I were in his camp, I'd want him to push all his chips into the 86kg pot now.

u17 and u20 are developmental tournaments.  The whole purpose of those tournaments is to prepare for Worlds.  They won the tournament that those tournaments are preparing for.  They are very happy and what happened at u17s doesn't take away from today even a tiny bit for them.

Another low-IQ result from Carr.  Disappointing.

Carr is the best we have at 74kg, and he did a great job. That was a tough weight class. Sidakov is no joke.

If I remember correctly, Iran had a great run in U17 and U20 with this group of guys (and their peers).  They are now enjoying the fruits of their harvest.

Yes. This group won 5 golds ( like the USA) at 2021 junior worlds in Russia

But, does Kurugliev plan on making one last go for the Olympics?  You got to think a big part of his physicality and improvements in those regards are due to him having Kurugliev as a training partner.

Got to feel good about 10-5 going in, being that Hidlay has scored all 15 points.
