Nothing would really surprise me in this case. The motivations of these assassins are often incoherent or more personal than political. 

I think there are a couple likely scenarios. 

1) A leftist - for obvious reasons.

2) A right-winger upset about Kirk's defense of Trump over Epstein.

4) Some personal motivation that will seem inexplicable to us.

If you want to think more outside the box, we could be entering our Years of Lead. The murder of the Minnesota Dems would fit well into this framework too.

If it was somebody who was an amateur, I think they would have been caught already. The things that have supposedly been found, I think it's a little too convenient. It definitely leads somewhere, but that somewhere is where the shooter wants it to go. It doesn't come across as something somebody did out of anger. It just seems too calculated.

I think it was calculated and maybe he was an intelligent guy, but the shot itself and the equipment are far from professional level.

If the equipment was the shooter's, I think is what Trip is saying.   I could be wrong.   If Trip is right, the shooter is a pro and left things behind to stall the pursuit until he can escape.   

I hear the gun was single shot .30-06.    Is that what hit Kirk?   I haven't heard yet.   But that round will tear you up if it gets close.

It was an old Mauser bolt action. Chambered in 30-06.

I don’t wanna post it.  It’s gruesome.  I saw a vid from the crowd that appeared probably taken on an iPhone. It was from the front left angle….. essentially a direct view of the likely exit wound.   The amount of immediate blood was shocking and quite large from a volume perspective.   I have relatives in the police department in homicide and violent crimes and I have seen a lot of bloody murder scene pics so blood isn’t disturbing to me.

I've seen that video.   I figure he went almost immediately unconscious losing that amount of blood.   It was pretty gross.

It seems a little too convenient. I might very well be wrong, but if somebody who planned this and was calculating enough to avoid being caught immediately was smart enough to do that, then I think it's reasonable to think they'd have planned to leave out a red herring or two.

I think it's pretty clear that transgender and gay people people don't like him. But killing him is way above that. Plus the level of planning that would have had to go into this. It wasn't some spontaneous thing.
