Why are we welcoming immigrants from South Africa while we are arresting non-criminal immigrants from Mexico who have families and are working full-time jobs, and putting them in cages to be deported to countries they aren't even from?

Pretty sure an arrest requires a crime.

I mean, to be fair, how many times has someone been arrested....even tried and convicted...only to later be proven to have never committed a crime?  The answer is definitely not zero.

Let's hear your reasoning, since that is what Trump largely ran on and continues to gaslight people about today.

It’s not about disliking undocumented immigrants; it’s about enforcing laws that presidents like Clinton and others acknowledged but never fully addressed. Trump promised to tackle illegal immigration head-on with deportations and border security, and he’s the first in years to prioritize getting it done.

Trump also undercut a bipartisan immigration bill that would have provided more appropriate resources to work through the years-long backlogs of immigration cases so he could play political games with people.

For all of his tough talk and his supporters eating it up, Obama's deportation rate was higher and more targeted to people with actual criminal records. I really don't understand why Trump supporters didn't love Obama. He did all the stuff Trump talks about. Must have been the tan suit.

Bill Clinton literally signed a law that expanded the crimes that were grounds for deportation and saw a 4x increase in deportations during his last term after the legislation was passed. Hell, that legislation got the ball rolling on deportations.

Obama claimed to prioritize criminals, and indeed a high percentage of deportees had criminal convictions—for instance, 91% in 2015 had such records The IndependentX (formerly Twitter). Interior removals, notably, were highly concentrated: more than 90% in 2016 involved serious criminals migrationpolicy.orgBipartisan Policy Center.

However, deeper investigations revealed that many deportees under Obama had only minor infractions—like traffic violations—or none at all. One study found that two-thirds of nearly two million deportees were minor offenders or without criminal records, and only 20% faced serious convictions

I guess it's time to disband all law enforcement and empty the prisons.

There's a thread on here about hyperbole.....you should check it out.

Obviously I said nothing of the sort.   Just responding to the idea that an arrest always has a committed crime in front of it. I guess you can't face the fact that arrests....even convictions...have happened quite a bit on people who did not commit the crime, so you have to come up with something like that.   More of that childish mentality.

Well if it's an argument to not arrest people for one crime then it's an argument to not arrest people for all of them. I'm not saying it's a good argument it's actually quite stupid but I'm not the one making it.

It really is ok to say that you liked the way Obama handed immigration.

He's been the best Republican president in a long, long time.

Obama is the reason we have Trump. It’s his legacy.

Nobody hates immigrants. Just come here legally. Doing it UNLAWFULLY is the problem.  Pretty simple.

how many of you on here supporting unlawful immigrants have taken one in to support?  Shouldn’t be a problem for you right now?

If they're working, contributing and paying taxes unlike you, they're clearly a net benefit. They take up very little in healthcare related costs too, unlike our seasoned citizens.

As long as they're also being generally lawful, which most of them are. Lower crime rate than us citizens, despite the fix news propaganda.

We need to make it easier for good young people to migrate here,  legally. Loosen the laws. We need more of them.

If. Bahahahahahaha

we spend $151 billion per year funding unlawfuls.  That’s AFTER the taxes they contribute.

btw I’m on my own insurance (retiree medical from the great company I worked for makes it very affordable) and yes even though I’m retired I still pay in federal income taxes to support the 55% of the country that freeloads.

So you’ll be taking in an unlawful and supporting them. Maybe spend that side job money on them.

They produce and work though, so are benefits.

Your taxes were deferred so you're paying taxes now on money u earned a long time ago. We need more workers, not more people like you sitting at home collecting ss or living off investments.

Like I’ve said many times. I didn’t count on SS to retire comfortably and I’m not even old enough to draw it early yet. I was planning on waiting until 70 to take it but I’m reconsidering as freeloading off of myself is fun.

now tell us all when you’ll be accepting your first unlawful.

What illegal and undocumented are we welcoming from South Africa?  I'm aware of seasonal labor but they have documents just like seasonal from other countries.

I don't need to. Almost all of them work so don't need public housing or any govt benefits. They're net contributors and can get a,place to live.  Let em in. We need more

Wrong. We lose $151 billion per year. It’s a fact.
