He takes the cash, he gets the hate.

Times have changed. Don’t make college wrestling a professional sport and then not expect criticism.

What does this even mean? I would certainly guess he is getting less money from VT than he was offered by Iowa.

Who else do you criticize for their "track record?"

I agree.  Basset made college a professional sport and should be criticized for doing that.

Is this satire? If so, ignore my next statement, if not, please tell me who else you criticize for treating college as professional sports. This is an interesting take coming from an Oklahoma State fan whose team brought in their Spratley, Figueroa, flipped Vega, brought in Jamison, Swiderski, flipped Robideau, brought in Facundo, and Welsh, and that is just the guys on their roster this year. Last year they had wrestlers that were previously on different rosters at 125, 141, 157, 165, 174, and 285.

But yeah, let's blame Bassett for making college into a professional sport. Give me a break.

I hope you're criticizing Taylor and staff for flipping guys with previous commitments and bringing in guys from other teams if you're going to criticize a high schooler for changing his mind.

He's just mad Burton wouldn't answer DT's calls and doesn't want us to celebrate Bassett/Melvin.

This is awesome! I’d love to see a new school win a National title. OK State or Iowa dethroning Penn State would be old hat. An ACC champ would be great for the sport. VT has been great at developing talent, just hasn’t quite gotten enough of it. These two plus Seidel and others could change that.

On a somewhat related note, I don’t think Seidel gets quite the hype he deserves. The dude could’ve walked to his 4th state title at any other weight but chooses to take on Jax Forrest. If you didn’t see the match, you may not realize how close Seidel was to be beating him! He is going to be a beast in the NCAA

It would not shock me to see Seidel start at 133 this season. Campbell is a stud too but might have a very tough fight to keep the slot

The talk is that in the next few years the 5 for 5 rule will more than likely take effect. I suspect we may see a lot of true freshmen battling for spots this year that may have been likely to redshirt in the past.

I feel good about 133, I think Seidel is ready and if Campbell beats him out it means he has had a great offseason.
