Why are people so upset about someone spending an extra year in school? I really don't get how upset people are over this. People are losing their minds.

This has been a thing in Ohio for a long time. I am pretty sure both Stieber's did the same thing. I think the prevalence of social media have just made it more widely known. As someone who did not hit puberty until I was going into my senior year it would have been very beneficial. Ultimately, I do not think it gives you an advantage when you get to college for most guys it probably flattens out their growth curve sooner.

😳

You were certainly a late bloomer then. I am a late bloomer in almost everything except biology. I hit puberty when I was 11 years old, the summer before I went to middle school.

And of course you’ve got club coaches like former tOSU wrestler Brakan Mead telling kids they should be held back

My mother was a kindergarten teacher for 35 years. She advocates for late year birthdates holding back. She realizes many of the younger kids could keep up and perform academically but the majority of the late date students were too immature to be in the classroom and she observed there was an academic disadvantage.   I was september and 17 in freshman year college. my brother was Oct birthdate and she said she always regretted not holding him back, his grades always bit lower than mine and he was second smallest in the class.

Well the research I refer to was not about the teachers but about the kids.  The importance is starting to read to them early, age 2 for example, and do things to educate them early.  If you can teach a 4 year old a low single surely he/she can learn simple math of scoring, reading etc.  Sports is a great way to learn discipline as well as reading, math etc.  Shoot if they are playing soccer might be a great time to learn Spanish while it's easy for them just like English.

So if like 10% of the allegations against Starocci are true, is it safe to assume PSU shouldn’t be “the right fit for Bo’s journey as a person” as long as Carter Starocci is still training there?

My moms position 80% of children not 5yrs old in September for start of kindergarten had lower scoring and learning time adjustment. Her opinion had absolutely nothing to do with sports. Probably for the reasons you state; pre school kids with no early introduction to reading and learning skills, but that is the majority kids coming to school to learn the alphabet and numbers. If your too young(immature) your not sitting and learning your just fidgeting and adjusting to new surroundings and nothing is absorbed.  Correct if learning was actually a family practice before kindergarten we would be way ahead, its more and more parents waiting for kindergarten so they can get rid of their kids for the day and have someone else teach them.
