I heard nickal called out bo basset for a catch weight match 🙂

Funny enough... Arnold, who was 184lbs last season and is supposedly 'well over' 200lbs, looked tiny compared to Palacio.  But Palacio is twelve weight classes below Nickal, so challenging Palacio is a no-go.

That said, I bet Bassett accepts that match 10/10 times.  Kid is no coward.

Nickal is a big believer in the 2nd amendment so you know Bassett would bring that Machine Gun Mindset

So in that scenario, who would be the entity paying the athletes?  UWW?

i like Jawn Cena. but i completely disagree with this take. first of all, there are weight classes.

second of all, have you ever tried to get multiple ranked wrestlers in the same city at the same time?

I think the only way would be money and stringent rankings that force athletes to compete to earn a chance for the big prizes.

Also don't think you can just piggy back on the UWW tournaments or expect them to become a real pro league.

You need to have consistent meaningful competition.

Pay them.   The top international talent doesn’t enter rankings tournaments because all they care about is the Olympics.  Give them a reason to care about the other events.

Not sure what the weight class comment even means.  He’s basically saying the current international system (with weight classes, obviously) is already similar, but we should make it more fan friendly.   Putting more emphasis on the team aspect could be one way IMO.

Hardly anyone watches events like Bill Farrell, even though there are usually tons of NCAA champs in it.   Heck, not that many Americans even watch Worlds and Olympics (even just compared to like NCAA duals), I don’t see many more if any more people watching random cards.  I wish that weren’t the case, but I’d be shocked if RAF comes close to breaking even (especially considering what they surely had to pay to get the names they did).

They probably won’t be succesful either but I think Claw has put the most thought into their league so far.  New rules trying to make it more exciting, and a team aspect even including a draft.  I know you’re the brain so maybe you still have some tricks up your sleeve, but so far all RAF has done is pay the most money to get the biggest names, and announce that the first venue will be at a school that just cut wrestling.

there are no weight classes in tennis. there's 10 ish headliners in tennis. you get them, and you got yourself an event.

in wrestling you get 10 headliners against bums you still aint got nothing.

Correct.  Pay them to compete in the events that actually matter for the sport’s championship where they are representing their country, not random cards that will have no impact outside of that event.

WEIGHT CLASSES in Tennis.

250: Entry-level main WTA Tour events.
 500: Higher-quality events with top-tier players.
1000: The most prestigious regular tournaments, second only to Grand Slams.

There are way more than ten headliners in tennis.
