Howdy all, been on a long trip to a 3rd world country (Oklahoma). While traveling I started wondering: are Dean Hamiti and Wyatt Hendrickson the only guys in NCAA history to have beaten 2 previous NCAA champions on the way to winning NCAA tournament titles?

Daryl Weber springs to mind.

Wow, great memory, especially for somebody your age!

So while not technically two, consider this . . .Kyle Dake beat David Taylor in a matchup of prior NCAA champions. But interestingly enough, in his finals matches, Kyle beat Frank Molinaro, Derek St. John, and David Taylor, all of whom went on to win an NCAA title the following year. Moral of the story, get beat by Kyle Dake in the finals, win an NCAA title the next year! 🙃

Starocci just did it last year

He beat a guy who won 2 titles, not 2 guys who won titles.

Yeah, but Hamiti wasn't an NCAA champ at the time, and neither was Mesenbrink.

Gwiz was a 2xer when Snyder came back and beat him.

And Tony Nelson was a 2xer when Gwiz beat him.
