Yes.  I posted that yesterday, 7th post on this page.

Danger of gang violence is not grounds for asylum.

Cool story, Abrego Garcia didn’t get asylum though so I don’t see the relevance?

That was his claim when he was wrongly given the withholding of removal to El Salvador.

Withholding of removal isn’t asylum.  Did the people in the link apply for asylum or withholding of removal?

He was applying for asylum just as the people in the link.

Do you have a source?

https://thehill.com/homenews/administration/5252884-deportation-legal-battle/

“back in 2019, Abrego Garcia sought asylum and protection from removal from the U.S. on the basis that his life would be in danger if he was returned to El Salvador.

The immigration judge denied the asylum claim because the time limits to make such a claim had expired.

But he did indeed rule Abrego Garcia should not be deported to El Salvador.”

It would be short work to overturn that judge’s ruling.  Gangs aren’t much of a threat in El Salvador these days.

Don’t know if ya’ll actually care about this case, or just care about arguing with each other.  I’m guessing the latter, since no one is talking about the fact that he’s been out of CECOT for over a week. Nor do I see any talk about how the Supreme Court has went against the administration and has blocked (at least temporarily) any more of these deportations.

(although one poster did post a picture of him talking to the Senator in the Senator’s hotel, trying to imply as if the prison isn’t that bad…even though the picture isn’t in the prison.  Good stuff.  ‘Merica…right?)

I’ve been trying to follow the updates, honestly didn’t even realize he was no longer there, thank you.

So would that mean we are no longer paying for him to be imprisoned?  It’s also curious that Bukele stated definitely he was a terrorist, yet released him from the “terrorist prison”?  He also risked a Con Air-style escape by transferring him to a different prison, so then he shouldn’t be concerned about any escapes if being put on a plane to the US

The hypocrisy of the wingers resurfaces every day.

Constantly whine about the Constitution the past 4 yrs and now they cheer when their guy blatantly ignores the courts.

Maybe.  Even more reason that it defies logic that they won’t ask for him back.

Is that typical dimocrat reasoning?  He’s already under a final order of removal, so it makes sense to bring him back here and deport him again?

Any further action can be handled in absentia or skype.

it tells me two things

1.

if he was in a conc camp... why would they let him out?

2. the good senator has no intetion of actually getting his hands dirty and going to a filthy prison with a bunch of gang bangers.

and we know one of them is garcia..

look at his hands.

why did his wife cover them up in their pictures

You act like everyone had been omitting these facts.  They are new.  The Supreme Court paused deportations today and the word that Garcia was no longer at CECOT came from Van Hollen yesterday.  He also isn't free or on his way back to the US.  Does being imprisoned at a different Salvadoran prison (Santa Ana) change things in a material way?
