Because he wants them to buy American made by Americans.   Pretty simple

I understand that but have some empathy for people struggling to make ends meet. He cares about nobody but himself and his billionaire donors.

Like the empathy for the pipeline workers that lost their jobs when Biden shut it down?  Or all the Tesla employees that could lose jobs due to the recent attacks?   Empathy is a two way street

Did Biden say he couldn't care less about them.

Another pathetic winger deflection back to Biden.  Totally expected.

Key word "MADE" by American workers. Almost every country in the world charges tariffs on our automobiles. Just trying to level the playing field for once.

Who buys a new car when they are struggling to make ends meet?

I have a 2008 F150 and will put $10K into it before considering to buy another used car.  I don’t know if I will ever buy a new car… but I could.  My income is upper middle class…  A price increase is more reason to buy used.

VERY basic economics. New car prices affect used car prices. They aren't in vacuums. VERY basic, fundamental econ.

What I hear is that auto shops can expect more business and parts will be more expensive.  Youtube creators will make more money because more people watch DIY ads.  Buy stock in part suppliers whose price is beaten down.

Owners will hold on to their cars for a longer period.

I do agree; the price of used cars will increase.

Or maybe no one buys cars and the prices drop.

Or maybe someone takes their head out of their ass and offers a bare bones model at an affordable price like they do overseas… and they used to here.

I have a 2006 F150. It runs like a champ. It has 270,000 miles on it. Original engine and transmission. (not rebuilt). I get 17 to 18 miles per gallon on the highway. To replace it with a new F150 is 50K to 75K.

People are drinking the wingers Kool aid, assuming this trade war he started is about short term pain for long term gain. Economists generally don't agree that that is the likely outcome. Besides the fact that we simply consume more than other countries so are naturally gonna have a trade deficit, other countries finance our fat bloated debt and can dump our treasuries at any time. They can also decide not to accept the dollar as the world's reserve currency. We can't bully countries around like wingers think and that's why stick market has just kept going south since this clown show started.

Trump has no idea, what he's doing as he's surrounded himself with incompetent yes men. He goes back and forth and all around on Tariffs as he gets rolled & manipulated by Putin and makes enemies with our true allies.
