Cool. Your guy is also Buchanans son forever, and Buchanan is a Hawk forever - per him

Oh no, a mercenary with 3 alma maters who is a "forever hawk" beat a freshman as a senior. However will I recover from this?! I'm not even a penn state fan lol

You're right. Let me rage and smash my glasses in anger now that I know I've lost.

Kerk mff out of NCAAs.  Not wanting to help the team.  Weird.

Following Spencer's lead (minus getting pinned, of course)

197 NCAA champ disagrees

We're not serious, right?

Iowa took a kid who took two 3rds and an 8th as a Freshmen and...he beat a Penn State Freshmen in the finals. If that's the example you've got of "coaching 'em up," it's...not the strongest.

Also, '97 was probably the weakest weight this year.

I seem to remember cstall fans hyping up the Rocco Welch final as an up and coming awesome sauce dude.  Weird taking the opposite argument all of a sudden.

If they don't replace Arnold & Keuter then they aren't even trying.  80% go big or go home!

Kueter is going back to Football next year, no? He's a 4 star recruit as a FB player, they're losing their 3 starting backers. I think he's going to play a big role on that team...and I think that's more than likely the end of him being a realistic contender at HWT. He doesn't get in the room until sometime after Jan 1, he's beat up from Football. He doesn't have to cut, so that's good...and I have no doubt he'll be in shape, but not Wrestling shape. So he's not gonna have a ton of time.

He's also going to be draft eligible next year, so if he's as good at FB as many have said...he may just want to focus on the sport that could pay him a whole lot more money.

LOL...what does this have to do with Buchanan or how Iowa coached him up?

And I don't know who else on this forum uses the term "awesome sauce dude," but...you find them and let 'em know...don't.

I don’t remember this, most people were talking about the top half of that bracket being stacked with Starocci/Mekhi/Griffith

It’s in that goat cstall thread.  Not looking it up to lazy. The idea was that people said his (cstall) finalists compared to other 4 timers weren’t “super stacked”.  I’m sure they used another term.

the jist was that super freshmen Rocco Welch would get to the finals and win xyz # of titles thus we can’t say he had weak competition on his way to being the unanimous goat.  Paraphrasing of course.

Yeah...the "jist" of this post is that you're pulling this from up in your colon...which is fine, it's where it seems like most of your takes come from.

I DO remember the argument being made that when you look back...and McEnally was the guy we were talking about, but IF he beat Keck and won a 5th, then he should be considered on the same level as Dake.

Not sure anyone...EVER suggested he'd be the "goat" of any type, unanimous or otherwise. Though, I will go on record now and say clearly nobody occupies more room in your particular mind as "cstall," the guy with the largest bonus rate among the Hodge finalists.

But yeah, if that argument was made...then you go cite that exchange. Also, it's "too lazy." But I suspect you're not looking it up because it takes a LONG time to find something that doesn't exist. Just like those looking for Asgard over the Ice Wall!

I have a bad memory so maybe it happened, but I don’t recall that either.   I could certainly see saying Welsh would need to be a TBD.  But the total argument doesn’t really make sense anyway, since Kemerer is one of the best to never win a title, and Mekhi did win one.  Labriola I guess may not have the best resume of finalists but he was a 4x AA.

Griffith also won one. Starocci had to beat both he and Lewis on his way to Welsh.

This was in a debate in which Steiber was given credit for beating a 3X Champ in Retherford...and McEnally was the guy people were talking about, but of course someone could have said, 'well see how many titles McEnally, Welsh and then if ANYONE was the "super" Freshmen, it was Welsh.

It was NEVER how he had a "easy" run when he had a bad knee and still beat two National Champs. That's just Calvario or whatever making things up(hence why he's "to lazy to find it.'

If Ben Keuter was as good at football as everybody has said he would not have focused on wrestling this past season.
