Steveson has to this point wasted his career. He could have won multiple world championships and at least two Olympics. He could have then parleyed that into MMA. Instead, he got more tattoos, tried fake wrestling, had photos taken of him in a football uniform, and wound up back in college. C'mon, man, make up your mind.

Edit. I misunderstood the post. First time 4x HWT champ.

Verne Gagne was the 1st 4x Big Ten champ, at 175, 191, & hvy.  He could have won all four years at hvy.

Grok Ai:

Verne Gagne was a highly accomplished amateur wrestler before transitioning to a legendary career in professional wrestling. Regarding his Olympic involvement, Gagne was an alternate for the U.S. freestyle wrestling team at the 1948 Summer Olympics in London. He earned this position after a strong amateur career at the University of Minnesota, where he won two NCAA wrestling championships (1948 and 1949) and four Big Ten titles. However, he did not compete in the Olympics. There was some uncertainty about his amateur status due to reports that he had earned money wrestling at a carnival, which could have disqualified him under the strict amateur rules of the time. Additionally, while he qualified for the U.S. Greco-Roman team by finishing second in the freestyle wrestle-offs, the U.S. coaches decided not to field a Greco-Roman team at the Games, further preventing his participation.

Thus, while Gagne was closely tied to the 1948 Olympics as an alternate, he did not actually wrestle in the competition. His Olympic experience remained a notable footnote in his storied athletic journey, which later saw him become a 10-time AWA World Heavyweight Champion and a key figure in professional wrestling history.

What years were they? Was Olympics ever an option for Gagne?

wiki says 'He was also an alternate for the U.S. freestyle wrestling team at the 1948 Olympic Games, after losing a closely contested wrestle-off match to the eventual gold medalist Henry Wittenberg. He earned the starting spot for the U.S. Greco-Roman wrestling team for the 1948 Olympics by finishing second in the U.S. freestyle wrestle-offs, but upon arriving to London, the U.S. coaches decided that the Greco-Roman team would not be competing.'

There's the answer, Verne Gagne. I figured it would be a rodent, they have a very strong HWT tradition.

To be honest he probably made more money doing all the goofy stuff instead of wrestling on the Sr level.

Ok, at HWT, Konrad and Mocco must have had 3?

Haha, I’m too lazy to do my own research.

Mocco only wrestled twice in the Big 10
