Have to go with Nebraska and Illinois for their success in the tourney.

Iowa and Ohio State didn't have the tourney they wanted or needed.

Too many overachieving underclassman to mention, the future looks bright.

Too many underachieving long time wrestlers, exceptions being Byrd and Steveson.  Both had time off.

Individually Tyler Wells, Cooper Flynn, Ryder Rogotzke and Carson Kharchla. Wells and Flynn were ranked as high as 6-7 this year. Neither shoot anymore, weight cuts are killing them. Both move up next season.

There are only two of us on this forum that if a person said back in October  "Illinois is going to have 1 Big Ten champion, 2 finalists, and at least 8 qualifiers" that we would have nodded our head and said "Poeta 1, Jombo zero. See ya in March."

This one was for him.

The Brands and Iowa underperformed as usual. They consistently do the least with the most resources. Take Spencer Lee out and they Cory Clark was their last National Champion - in 2017.

Not from this forum, but I did predict this back in May before Kraisser committed:

125 - Attasuauov [Fringe NQ depending on weight]
133 - Byrd (AA [Top-4])
141 - Pucino (NQ)
149 - Webster (AA)
157 - Scoles (NQ)
165 - Moore (NQ)
174 - Braunagel (Blood Round/AA)
184 - Ruth (AA)
197 - Braunagel (Blood Round/AA)
285 - Luffman (Blood Round/AA)

I thought they'd have 9 NQ's, but not 2 finalists. Would've just thought 1.

I think Pucino has a puncher's chance for that 9th NQ. That's step one. Step two is showing up when it matters most in a couple weeks. Illinois can do this.

What's up with Mendez? I thought he was a lock to win in the first half of the season. Now he has taken several losses to guys he beat last year. He looks fatter and slower(not fat but not as much definition).  Not as much pop in his attacks and not stalking and constantly attacking like he was.  He beat Yanni and almost beat Zain for the Olympic team in the off-season and was looking like a guaranteed 3 timer. Now he is struggling with several high level college guys.

Bartlett is 2-0 against him this season, which is surprising.

Why would you take Spencer Lee out?

Take David Taylor out and NLWC has never had an Olympic finalist.

But back to the original point: PSU/NLWC has more financial resources.

I agree, Iowa did not underperform.

I am not arguing that Iowa and Brands didn't underperformed by why are we taking Spencer Lee out of the broader equation here?
