Wasn’t sure where to put this. Pretty informative interview with Tom Ryan.  Does seem to imply there was “contact” between Welsh and PSU (although he may have caught himself then focused on “friends”) and also implied that PSU offered more than tOSU was giving him, and noted that Rocco and his family were very happy with the NIL package he was offered when he signed.

Omar Ayoub, currently representing Puerto Rico at U20 Worlds, transferring from Nebraska to Kent State.

 

interestingly Nebraska tweeted about him at U20’s two days ago

 

somehow he is #20 on wrestlestat, but looks like his best win is an injury default over Ferrara of Cornell.   He only wrestled 4 D1 matches last year and 3 were against ISU guys, beat Diversent but got pinned by Grice.

I half listened while I was working yesterday. But didnt he imply there was "a middle man" between Rocco and PSU who was doing the communicating?

Ismael Ayoub, the older bro, is the one transferring to KSU. Omar is the one representing PR at U20s and is still at Nebraska.

Interestingly enough, Ismael made the Fargo finals about 3ish years ago and beat some hammers along the way. I was actually higher on him than Omar coming out of HS, fwiw. I know that's not worth much, but I always expected Ismael to do big things in college. Been stuck behind Hardy and Lovett though.

Yeah.  He started talking about himself and said when he transferred to Iowa, saying “there was no contact between me and anyone at the University of Iowa, that was the difference.”  To me that implies it was more than just wrestlers contacting Welsh.   But then after that he quickly said “Or there was no middleman”
