I've watched the first 2 episodes of the limited miniseries. Those episodes were very good! A lot of people who've seen the show complain about the violence. Too bad for those people violence is a real thing and not fantasy and the violent events in the show really happened (but with some dramatic license taken I'm sure).

the regular trailer

The "mature rated" trailer.

I kept waiting for some sort of "happy ending" and that surely did not come

No happy ending! It was like reading a Cormac McCarthy novel!

Looks crappy to me. Violence on TV is simply junk food for the brain.

How is the acting? Or is it just nonstop gunfire, explosions and blood, as the trailer indicates?

Just out of curiosity.  What do you do to have fun, to be happy?

The acting is pretty good, actually. It's a top tier production, not some cheeseball "b" grade show. There's a lot of violence because the show is portraying violent historical occurences, such as the Mountain Meadow Massacre, where a group of Mormon "militia", disguised as Indians, in concert with real Paiute indians, slaughtered a group of Missouri settlers trying to cross Mormon territory. I'm sure there is dramatic license taken in places though.

Don't screw with Jim Bridger!

It reminded me of "Blood Meridian", which I finished last week. Scalping, murder, chaos, and not the happiest ending ever.

I'll have to check that out!

It's a hard read, man. McCarthy thought punctuation was optional, plus he uses words that were pretty obscure even a hundred years ago sometimes! Great book, but honestly I can't recommend it unless you have a serious commitment to it. It's literally hard to read.  But Judge Holden's monologues were all legendary.
