Barraclough is proving to be the AA threat we all thought he would be if he could find himself in the lineup. At a weight where it feels like MM and everyone else I was thinking that Barraclough may present him the most issues. He is very good on the mat, is pretty good at slowing matches down and was in the room with him for a year.

MM's 8-5 win over Bear Claw was his closest match last year outside of his loss to Carr and close win over Hamiti (who is up at 174). It does not appear that MM has ever wrestled against Julian Ramirez or Peyton Hall. Both of these guys are capable of giving fits to the best of the best (KOT and Carr). Bear Claw's familiarity with MM likely keeps the match closer than the usual MM match and if you are close at the end, you have a fighters chance.

Would probably also throw Sasso in the mix but I think I’d agree that Bearclaw could be the biggest threat with the familiarity factor probably playing a role

He has zero offense.  I think there are far more likely ways for Messenbrink to lose than Barraclough stalling for 9 minutes to get to ride outs.

There probably is a case like this that I can't remember, but when is the last time a guy who transferred precisely because he could not beat his team mate then later beat that former team mate at NCAAs?

Not sure what the specific reason was especially since he wrestled 133 his first year after transferring, but Matt Ramos finished higher than Pat McKee in each of the last 2 NCAA’s and was also 3-0 against him.

I would not count Ramos in my criteria.

Yes, he would count.

Bubba would not count.  Cael forced him to change weights to accommodate his brother transferring in from Iowa State.

Craig Henning got screwed in the 2007 NCAA Finals.
