Let's Get Ready to Rumble! Carter Starocci vs Parker Keckheisen

Period 1. No points, but Starocci controlled the action. Keckheisen was backing up.

Period 2. Starocci chooses down. Starocci got to his feet and gets the esc. Keckheisen on an outside single.  Tries to convert but they go OOB. That was a good shot. Now Carter on a low single and comes up thru the legs and its PD. Keck slow to get back to center. Starocci pulling on the head, moving forward. Underhook, but nothing. Starocci continuing forward, but nothing. Still 1-0 after 2.

Period 3. Keckheisen chooses down. Cratre rides for 15 seconds before action goes OOB. Both wrestlers fighting hard. One for an esc, the other to keep control. Keckheisen gets out for the ESC. 1-1 now. Anyone's match to win. 50 seconds remain. Each wrestlers shoots, but neither converts. 32 seconds left. Keckheisen is s l o w to come back for the re start. It ends 1-1. Going to SV.

SV. Carter shoots. Keck counters. Still nothing. Carter in deep, trying to pull the leg in and he sucks it in and drives over the leg for the TD!! Carter Starocci wins 4-1!

Carter is really good at wrestling.

People used to say that PSU fans were channeling Iowa when Brooks would wrestle Hidlay.

In their first NCAA final, Hidlay spent more than a minute of the first period partially or completely out of bounds. It was infuriating.

Bo Nickal just about got booed out of MSG despite winning his fight with Paul Craig... The overrated chants were abundant. Fans don't seem to like him.

I'm more of a casual UFC fan tbh but this was probably his first semi legit test. Guy he fought was Paul Craig, has some good wins and has been in the game for a while, but it was just an odd fight. Bo made zero attempt to use his wrestling and the two basically stood and feinted back and forth the entire fight. Then Bo ran over to Trump, talked to him for a while, then gave a speech saying how good he did when everyone booed him. Was odd lol.

Not like that, worst I heard in his Flo interview was “everyone thinks he has good cardio, but I kind of disagree.  His cardio when he wrestled Aaron wasn’t as great.”

Why?  Still would need an escape + takedown or takedown in SV to win, and if take bottom you run the risk of getting ridden yourself.  And if start neutral and get a TD you can still give up an escape and win. That’s basically the exact scenario a 3 pt TD was intended for IMO, most would likely agree that it is better to get a TD than 2 escapes.  Obviously it didn’t work out for Bailey in that scenario but I think he made the right choice of position.

My thought is it limits his scoring possibilities. He can escape or reverse and then a takedown is still available to him. By going neutral only the takedown is available.

It was not the most exciting fight to say the least, but no doubt in my mind that Bo actually won it even if in a boring fashion. Fans want dominance and he did not deliver it. Its like when you want a juicy T Bone and get spam instead.
