Gambino family boss Francesco “Frankie Boy” Cali was shot dead outside his Staten Island home. That might sound like a normal morning in Staten Island, but this was the most high-profile mob killing since 1985. Naturally, the death sparked a media frenzy, with fears that a new Mafia war could erupt. But the truth turned out to be much weirder. The dude was killed by a QAnon believer.

Anthony Comello pulled the trigger for reasons that would require several skeins of red string to explain, but we’ll try to give you the gist. QAnon holds that President Trump is waging a secret war against an elite conspiracy of high-ranking cannibalistic pedophiles, but he needs the public’s help, which is why one of his allies posts regular anonymous updates as “Q.” Logical enough, right?

So what did Cali supposedly have to do with any of this? It’s not clear! Comello somehow identified him as a member of the “deep state” and decided to perform a citizen’s arrest. He’d tried that before with New York Mayor Bill de Blasio, who famously snatches children while swooping over the city on leathery bat wings, and Maxine Waters, a dangerously violent criminal mastermind cunningly disguised as an elderly politician.

None of those attempts worked out, but Comello hadn’t succeeded at doing anything illegal yet, so he was free to turn his attention on Frankie Boy, who lived near him. Frankie Boy, having no idea what was going on and having a certain set of conditioned responses, reached for his gun as Comello approached, so Comello shot him 10 times before fleeing. Thankfully, he was arrested before this could spark a mob war, but on the downside, this does leave us defenseless against Chuck Schumer’s legion of goat-masked death troopers.

well that would explain a lot about the 'deep state'.

controlled by the mafia.

it makes many things make sense.

I think it's kind of a funny but also disturbing coincidence that a mentally disturbed guy thought he had the full protection of Trump to act like this.

He was also found mentally incompetent to stand trial.

Well I don't see any Harris supporters going ape shit and murdering a random stranger as part of a delusional fantasy they are working secretly on their behalf.

I actually don't know. Maybe I don't watch enough Fox News to recognize whoever that is. They must not have been very important if they aren't immediately recognizable.

This happened years ago. Why are you bringing it up now? Qanon people being mentally ill isn't exactly breaking news.

Because I think it's funny that it nearly caused a Mafia war to happen, and the truth behind it is even more bizarre than just a simple random shooting. Of all people to target, you target somebody like that for some strange reason, after failing to arrest two prominent politicians, and put yourself in danger, not just of going to prison, but being killed in retaliation extrajudicially. Only Trump could inspire that kind of batshit insane reasoning in people.

He didn't do so because he was delusional and believed that he was working directly on behalf of Clinton or whoever, and would get protected for his actions. He was just a nut who Democrats also condemned.

like the two people who everyone wishes hadn't missed?

in all seriousness, you think he wasn't delusional?

do you think he didn't think he was doing the dems a favor?

im not sure what he thought would happen after his actions

I think there is a difference between being an angry weirdo and somebody who believes they are implausibly acting on behalf of somebody who doesn't know or care they exist. The guy who took a shot at Trump is dead, but from everything I read, it sounded like he just wanted to kill a famous politician and Trump was convenient. The other guy who didn't even get close, again just an angry weirdo.

This guy, Comello told the court he thought that he was directly working on behalf of Trump and wouldn't face trouble over his actions because of it. If the Mafia ever finds him then I don't think they'll employ any kind of due process and kill him in some terrible way. I have yet to hear of anyone saying that they thought murdering people was something Biden, Harris, etc would immediately forgive them for.
