...or retiring Russian wrestlers who want to work with the RTCs. This is no different than European basketball teams hiring American coachs some years ago to kick off their programs. I think we could learn great new techniques from Russians.

The problem isn't the coaching or them knowing any technique that our coaches don't know. Russian coaches have come to the U.S. in the past. U.S. wrestlers have spent time training in Russia (obviously they can't do that anymore) and usually it doesn't make a huge difference.

So we are banning Russian athletes but ok with letting their coaches come over to coach our athletes?  🤔

You mean like Sergei at Michigan?

When I wrestled with Sergei's son (RIP) at Parkland on the youth team, I remember he moved out to Japan to become their national freestyle head coach.  The man is a living legend and in high demand.  Awesome they had him at Michigan.

We absolutely should.  The adjusted medal count from Russia shows the insane surplus of talent coming out of their training camps.

We had Russians at the OTC for years for Greco.....but when you put zero emphasis whatsoever at the grass roots level, you can hire all the Russians you want for the senior level, but too late, too far behind by the time they can get their hands on 'em.

'we' are not banning russian athletes.   UWW/IOC is banning the federation, and certain athletes that did certain things.  There were a number of Russian athletes that were cleared to compete, and they/the federation chose not to.

Clearly, the OP meant to ask about Japanese coaches. Easy mistake. They are very close to each other on the map.

So are we with Russia.
