What Year Is It?

LA lawmakers have just advanced a bill that will remove lunch breaks for child workers. Florida just took away heat breaks from people working outside. The AZ house will not even dare hold a vote to repeal the abortion law that was in place decades before AZ was even a state. What year are we living in and why are Republicans so intent on dragging us into the past, what good is going to come out of all this?

I’m sorry i forgot we are only allowed to discuss climate change and immigrants. People on here harp on all day about how the left and the Democratic Party is ruining America when we have Republicans literally taking away rights and protections and regressing our society and no one has a word to say

In fairness, Florida didn't take away heat breaks.  Florida passed a bill that said localities can't pass their own laws, and must follow the state and federal standards on safe working environments.

Let's not let facts get in the way of a good argument.  🤨

Those pesky facts. They are not allowed.

The Florida law was in direct response to Miami-Dade counties efforts to require shade and water for construction, farm, and all outdoor workers. I guess the best phrase would be why is this a piece of legislation that is worth paying our representatives salaries to push forth or what good comes from not allowing outdoor workers in extreme heat states to take more breaks, I mean even Saudi Arabia has heat restrictions for workers

The bill is to leave the law at state and federal requirements, and not allowing a particular community to say we’re going to pass a local bill that puts a huge financial strain on local emoloyers. In other words, a local community cannot supersede the law of the land. It’s not taking away breaks, like you tried to convey in your original post. And it’s not taking away heat protections. It’s saying heat protections are already established and a local community is not going to require a local business to supersede them. They (the business) are free to if they want to, but they will not be required to.
