In order to win a title, Starocci may have to beat the following (assuming all the higher seeded wrestlers win):

  • (24) Sparks
  • (8) Kemp
  • (1) Lewis
  • (4) Griffith
  • (2) Devos

Well, he was always going to have to beat Lewis, and the semi’s would have been Ruth or Griffith. Either way, he has to beat whoever shows up.

If he wins he should get heavy consideration for OW.

In my impartial opinion based upon years as a respected wrestling journalist, I've got Edmond Ruth for the win here. Before I change my mind, I want to see proof of life videos from Stall Rocky and Griffith. Earlier today, somebody posted a video on social media of Starocci giving an interview in front of a window showing PSU wrestlers practicing in the background. Not proof.

I demand a video of both of them practicing, then walking over to the camera while picking up that day's newspaper. This is nonnegotiable.

@ILLINIWrestlingBlog is one fascinating human being.  Ben was born on February 26th 1958 to Mr & Mrs Ghazi.  A young Ben Ghazi found pleasure as a young child in the sport of wrestling but also had a twinkle in his eye for writing and the arts.  Ben left his home at the age of 18 when he met a talent agent.  He officially changed his name and now goes by his stage name Greg German.  You've might have seen his work playing Eric Rico Morrow in the TV series Ally McBeal.  Greg also performs stand up comedy in his spare time and gets a guest spot at the Mothership anytime he wants via making a phone call to one of his best buds, Joe Rogan.

Mekhi should have the advantage over a one-legged Starocci.

Only problem is Mekhi will have to actually take a shot.  The counter-offense crap from neutral isn't gonna cut it at NCAAs if Starocci doesn't shoot w a gimpy wheel.  Starocci will likely be content to go scoreless in the first period and take the match to the mat.

Calling it right now, based on the 20% chance that all three of the big hitters are not in top form on the top side, we could see a Ruth vs Kennedy NCAA final.

That stuff just happens sometimes, a bigten wrestleback round of 4 match becomes an NCAA final.

It would be very on brand for Iowa and the Bigten overall.

It seems a little too convenient that CarStar gets a revenge match in the first round of his murder tour. But I'll take a feisty PK over a banged up Griffith and Starocci, if Starocci can get past Mekhi.

I kinda think Starocci isn’t actually banged up

He needed help off the mat three weeks ago, right?

I should clarify that I think he won’t actually be banged up next weekend, he probably would’ve still considered banged up if he competed at B10’s.

Pure speculation, but I’d guess he’ll be at about 95% for NCAA’s.
