I saw that Brown got beat by Cornell 47 to -1.  That caught my eye and I don't recall seeing negative points in a dual before.  For you longtime college wrestling followers, has there ever been any teams that scored worse than -1?

What kind of speech do you give to the locker room after you lose 47 to -1?

Probably something along the lines of "at least we aren't in an Ag school."

Craig Henning got screwed in the 2007 NCAA Finals.

Yeah, this was embarrassing. Here's what Brown's coach had to say after the dual:

"Yesterday in Ithaca we went up against a Cornell team who was fully stocked for the first time this season and who just beat #2 Missouri this afternoon.  Our dual ended 47 to -1.  We were outclassed in several spots, unlucky in some spots, and on the wrong side of poor refereeing in others.  For the most part I am proud the way our guys competed.  Most of them refused to take a back seat, which provided some intense and entertaining matches.  The environment was exciting.  The crowd was involved, the refs were rattled, and Dudley ended up out in the middle of the mat yelling at the referee before he even realized he left his seat in the corner."

Negative points in a dual happens at least once a year across all levels of men’s collegiate wrestling. The victims are usually then underfunded or non-scholarship types of programs at the D1 level.

I haven’t seen anything below -1 in recent memory. I saw a -3 about 20 years ago in a HS dual.

Insert catchy tagline here.

In HS a flagrant misconduct is a -3 as opposed to college being -1 so likely both were the same situation.

That particular dual was small schools in Southwest Virginia ... which I was told it was actually three separate team-point deductions. I remember the situation because it made it as an item in my old wrestling column when I worked at the paper.
