I'll eventually get this right.  Tulsa Central had 16 individuals win a total of 30 titles.  I'm missing the name of one 1x champ.  Here's the list:

  1. LeRoy McGuirk: 1931
  2. Allan Kelley: 1933, 1934
  3. Wayne Martin: 1934, 1935, 1936
  4. Stanley Henson: 1937, 1938, 1939
  5. Harold Byrd: 1940
  6. Vernon Logan: 1940, 1942
  7. Buddy Arndt: 1941, 1942, 1946
  8. Burl Jennings: 1941, 1942
  9. Merle Jennings: 1941, 1942
  10. Bill Maxwell: 1942
  11. Phil Smith: 1951
  12. George Layman: 1951, 1952
  13. Hugh Peery: 1952, 1953, 1954
  14. Fred Davis: 1955
  15. Mickey Martin: 1962, 1963

The database created by Jay Hammond (a.k.a., "Boomer" - R.I.P.) used to be the best source for this kind of stuff.  Most of the old links are now non-functional.

New question - Name the 5 states, in order, that have produced the most AAs?

* Note - I'm missing the states for almost 50 AAs, but it shouldn't affect the order.

Numbers 2 & 3 added up doesn't equal PA!

Pennsylvania

Iowa, Ohio, Oklahoma, California, Illinois, NJ?:classic_unsure:

You've got 4 states. Only 1 is in the right order though (hint- it's PA). But you have listed 7 of the top 8 who are all well above any one else.

Sorry, I do not have any hometown, state, high school data on these guys. As far as I am concerned they do not exist prior to their freshman year.

So close. Just need to switch Ohio and Iowa.

PA, OK, IA, OH, IL. Iowa is inching closer to passing OK. Oh and IL were close but OH is starting to open a gap with the past 10 years.

Where they were born, where they started wrestling, where they started or finished high school or where they were in college when AA'd?  🤷‍♀️

Whatever they listed on a roster for hometown. If that wasn't available then a yearbook, newspaper, etc. lists them. Not perfect but nothing will be.

For example, Myles Martin lists nj instead of md where he went to hs.

Kudos to you for doing the heavy lifting. And finding that for every AA is HEAVY lifting.

There have been 24.2k NQs in D1. I've got the state of 22.5k, HS of 21.7k, and hometown of 14k. I haven't done a super deep dive on the others yet so I am sure I will be able to find quite a few of those too when I get to it.
It's taken an extremely LOOOOOOOONG time. But worth it.

I laughed when you said you haven't done a super deep dive yet.

Ha. I've just done easy google searches so far. No newspapers, student publications, etc. Lots of places to dig into to find these last ones. Hoping people will know quite a few of them when I finally post the database out there.

Question - True Freshman champs are rare, however, one year the same team had 2 of them. Name the year, team, and wrestlers.

Snyder and Myles Martin 2016 tOSU?
