Programs with Most Depth at a Single Weight

Recommended Posts

Which program seems consistently produce All-Americans and/or national champions at a particular weight class? I would have to think Iowa at 125 and Penn State at 174, right?

Iowa at 125

  • Matt McDonough (2010-13) - 2-time national champion, 3-time national finalist
  • Cory Clark (2014) - All-American, 5th place
  • Thomas Gilman (2015-17) - 3-time All-American, 2016 national finalist
  • Spencer Lee (2018-21, 2023) - 3-time national champion, 4-time All-American, 2-time Hodge Trophy winner

Penn State at 174

  • Ed Ruth (2011-12) - 2012 national champion, 2-time All-American
  • Matt Brown (2013-15) - 2015 national champion, 3-time All-American
  • Bo Nickal (2016) - 2016 national finalist
  • Mark Hall (2017-20) - 2017 national champion, 3-time national finalist
  • Carter Starocci (2021-present) - 3-time national champion

as far as this year PSU has Barrouclough (spelling sorry terrel) who is apparently in griffiths league, Facundo who AA caliber, and Messenbrink....whom we don't even know how good he is yet but he might be top 5 p4p.....

‘83-‘92 Iowa 126: Barry Davis 2 titles, Penrith 1 title and  2 2nds, Terry Brands 2 titles and 1 2nd, plus Tom Brands with a 4th and Trizzino with a 4th.

10 years = 5 titles, 3 runner ups, 2 4ths.

@BobDole blueandgold is another Cinnabon handle correct?  The penmanship and thread format is identical.

Absolutely not. That man is a troll. My threads are based around history and generational comparison. His are just hot takes and attacks on Iowa falsely framed as support for PSU.

Oklahoma State 133 (and predecessor weights):

In 92 years OK St has 58 AA's at the weight (19 titles, 18 runners up).T

The most recent run is 26 of the last 35 years:

I always appreciate your input/feedback. Helps me learn stuff I previously didn’t know and/or am curious about.
