Becoming an expert climatologist: A comprehensive guide
Becoming an expert climatologist requires a combination of strong academic foundations, practical experience, continuous learning, and impactful contributions to the field.
Here's a breakdown of the key steps:
1. Educational foundation
  • Undergraduate Studies: A bachelor's degree in Climatology,
  •
  • Meteorology,
  •
  • Atmospheric Sciences, or a closely related field like Environmental Science, Physics, or Mathematics is the essential first step.

No one can take someone touting Cali as a good state seriously.

I simply provided three facts.  I said nothing of great or horrible state. I simply provided three facts. (I even threw in how they bungled Covid) Care to tell us which of those three facts are untrue?  Or are you just going to keep contributing with “baaaaaa”.

Oh, and telling us how we can’t trust the media, but meanwhile…..have any more media quotes and clips for us??

Again, good advice you should take on yourself instead of just telling everyone else.

(Except in those times when it suits you of course)

It does look like meteorologists can be expert climatologists.   What ya think about that?

On climatology, yes.

You look foolish here. Im not gonna hire an electrician to fix my plumbing.

You're a idiot if you disregard all PhD climatologists on the subject of climatology. It really is that simple.

California is the larger manufacturing state in the US, has the world’s 4th largest economy, and has seen population growth steadily over the last three years.

Yes, California is a large, populous place that manufactures quite a bit of stuff, so is China.  Lots of states have more manufacturing jobs per capita than California.  The economy is large for the same reason, but to say it’s good means you haven’t bought a house, or gas, or paid taxes there recently.

Does that mean you’re an expert in idiocy?  Or just an ex spurt?

Did you and Caviera take the same class in “say someone said something they didn’t so I can come up with somethin to argue”

Or do you just have the same problems with comprehension as him??

I don’t recall taking any classes in anything.

I was replying to this, along with the rest of the same post, where you describe California as the biggest economy, biggest mfgr., and had an influx of illegals in the last three years.  “Back on track,” unless you designate it as the wrong track, is saying that things are going well, but they’re not.  Newsom is being sued for his egg prices, he’s preparing to raise taxes some more even after cutting healthcare for illegals.  Cities are being vandalized, and law enforcement officers are being attacked.  Things are getting worse.  You said “back on track.”  Then you try to deny saying it.  Maybe you forgot, which would be understandable.  You’re not fairyin your way out of this one.

We’ll look at that, you actually can read and recall what someone wrote.  As well as fall with the emotional charging click bait from media and government, that we can’t trust, well unless they tell us stuff that gives us those warm fuzzies and then we can trust them.

Speaking of emotional….”fairyin” out of this one?  Your ego must be as fragile as your egg suing nut swing.   What are you gonna do when he’s gone??

Good to see you again, fun as always.

Dudes, can we stop the "I know you are but what am I?"  and "I'm rubber, you're glue.  Whatever you say bounces off me and sticks to you." taunts on this thread.  We have enough of that crap in other areas.

Can we keep the Climate Hoax thread about important things like cow farts?  The history of failed prognostications and extrapolations.  Changed river shapes, coastal outlines, and other climactic convulsions which happened before SUVs existed, The climate model which applied from all data through 1950 and its correlation to the actual measurements that occurred in the last 75 years, etc.

Can the board moderator create a food fight room where our colleagues can take their "you're a jerk/ no I'm not but you certainly are" fights?

Somebody w a PhD in climatology is an expert, especially if they're also working in the field.

It's very simple.

Late 80s early 90s had research meetings with climatologists, yes they had PhDs.   What they were saying then is that we had just gone through a relative low variability period regarding climate etc and were now entering back into more normal (higher) variability.  Now if you understand statistics, estimating models, time series etc and you are using data to estimate future events where older data is lower variability new is higher variability then you know the estimate trend can be biased by the direction of the first high variability observations.  Hence not long after the new thing was global warming.  Now if you understand Fed funding RFP etc they like to put out their new year RFPs in a new focused area.  Hence a lot of money to study Global Warming.  Well what do all the researchers do ... they write proposals to research Global Warming.  Then when we find out its more of a new variability issue everyone is changing to Climate Change and hence new RFPs and new research on CC.

They call it climate change because it's a lot more than just warming. It's accompanied by other climate-related changes such as frequency and magnitude of storm events and higher or lower overall precip, depending upon location. Some areas also see more warming than others (eg areas closer to the poles).

There's also PLENTY of data, spacially and temporally, so the " variability" has no bearing on the overall warming trend observed.

Yes, every PhD climatologist says that earth is warming overall, and due to fossil fuels. It's because ALL the data easily demonstrates that. EASILY. Not because of a grand funding conspiracy.
