Seeing Taz do the impossible has got me thinking. Does anyone know what Starocci’s plan is for 2024?

I think it would be interesting if he took an ORS and dropped down to 74kg.

Dake is obviously extremely elite, but his chronological age isn’t doing him any favors these days.

Taylor used to be a tweener too. Then Carl showed him the weight room

There's an interview out there after DT beat Colin Palmer at "The Match of the Century" when both were in high school. In it, DT predicted he'd be 174/184. That plan has been in the works since DT was a wee child.

Are we allowed to talk about who actually showed him the "weight room" on this site?  It was practically a bannable offense over on themat.

I don't think Stalrocci is a tweener.  I think he would be well sized for 86 KG with a season's preparation.

He's a good sized 174 but 86 kg is another 15 pounds up.

That's fine.   He would be fine.  He has the horse at 174 already.

He's fine at 174. He won't be fine at 74 if he can even make it, He does realize it's scratch Day 1 and Day 2 and he has to actually perform after making weight, right?

i am an idiot on the internet

He's a believer.  I agree 74 KG is a different animal.  When was the last time he was that low?  Soph year of high school ten years ago?

Even if Starocci could make the weight, it's tough to imagine him making the Olympic team at 74kg. He may not even be the 3rd or 4th best 74 guy in the room with Dake, Nolf, Gomez, and possibly Zain. Maybe we'll see him wrestle for Italy if Chamizo is getting ready to hang it up. 😉

He HAS beaten Nolf, but pretty sure that was at 79 kg, so a major difference.  Plus, I think Nolf was sad in that match.

It was at 79 KG.  It is(was) still a legitimate win.  That was definitely vintage Stalrocci.

Stalrocci also lost to Lujan at that same tournament, even if he beat Nolf and Dieringer.

Thinking is backwards.  He beat Nolf for 3rd at 2021 World Team Trials 4-3.

He beat Dieringer 5-1 at 2022 World Team Trials.  Dieringer beat him 7-1 this year though.  So who is improving/regressing?

He was also likely about to be laced and teched by Ringer this year if he didn't scream.
